Short interview. It didn't make me very happy, to be honest:
translation:
Are you currently training with the rest of the group or not?
-Yes, I'm exercising. I train at the same time with other skaters, but less time. I don’t practice programs, I mainly perform jumps and various individual elements.
Do you do quadruple jumps?
-Yes.
Do you have more free time after the end of the Olympics? And has there been more attention to you?
-Attention has really become more. I can say that wherever I go, people [pay attention to me], regardless of whether they are somehow connected with figure skating. I just come, for example, to a bank, to a store, to some salon - and people always recognize me. Sometimes they don’t even show it, they just look at me, and when I ask something, they answer: “Of course, of course, Alexandra!”. That's about it.
So it's nice for you?
-Yes very.
Tell us a little about how you set yourself up for the free skate. And could you describe the atmosphere that was at the Olympics? All athletes say that this atmosphere is very different from what happens at other competitions. Do you confirm this?
-Yes, the Olympics is different from all other competitions, of course. Absolutely different feeling. All people ask: “What is the difference?” - and I don't know how to answer that question. I can't say exactly what the difference is. Everything is different, everything is different. Something different than always. The atmosphere is good, everyone was very supportive.
The decision to perform five quadruple jumps at the Olympics was made by you personally, or did the coaches decide so?
No, not coaches. Of course, I made the decision. Even before the start of the free program, the coaches offered me to remove the quadruple salchow, to perform only four jumps. But no one seriously argued with me, it was just a suggestion.
They didn't argue with you because it's useless?
-Yes, because everyone knows that I have been going to this for a long time. I had to do these five jumps at the Olympics, I wanted to. I prepared for this twice this season because I had to recover from an injury.
The triple axel is such a stumbling block, I can't help but ask about it, because all the fans are interested in this issue. Did Eteri Georgievna support the inclusion of this element in the short program, or did she oppose it?
- In this case, too, there was no such thing that someone spoke for or against. The coaches just didn't say anything. We were getting ready to do this program with axel. In general, no one ever tells me anything about the axel.
In training, this element most often works out well for you, but not so in competitions. What is the reason for this, do you think?
-Before, I would say that the cause of mistakes is excitement. And now I don’t know, because at the Olympics, when performing a short program, I almost didn’t worry. So I don't know why it didn't work for me.
After the free program, after the announcement of the results, you reacted very emotionally. Everyone saw your conversation with the coaches. How would you react to this situation now?
- It would also.
Would have reacted the same way...
-Yes, exactly the same.
If you had the opportunity to re-execute your programs at the Olympics, would you change anything in them, or not?
-I would do the same.
Now the world championship has been canceled for Russian athletes. Will you still skate this season?
-No, I won't this season. More precisely, I will perform on the show. I will participate in all shows.
If we talk about the next season, are you already tuned in to it, do you have any plans?
-Not yet. I want to finish the season, relax, make some kind of voyage, if possible. And then we'll see.
Where do you usually like to relax?
-Always at sea. Where it's warm.
