Kamila Valieva

Some troubles with getting into pose (2nd slide)

Just beautiful. I can't help but imagine what she could develop into as an adult skater with someone like Brian Orser. It bothers me that much of FS Twitter diminishes the talent of these young Russian women by calling them bots. Frank Carroll referred derisively to Valieva as "the drug person" and called the others "cadavers" -
They're kids who just want to skate, just like the U.S. women, or Japanese women. It's the system that is toxic, not them. I hope I didn't break the rules of the forum, but I can't help it. Valieva is an artist, and I believe many in the online skating community were too jaded and contemptuous of Eteri (with good reason) to acknowledge or even recognize that. I'd love to see her prove the doubters and haters wrong. Sorry for the rant.

From the examples of Medvedeva and Tursynbaeva I really don't think there's any advantage of going to Orser, rather the opposite..

I disagree. Different circumstances, different skaters. Evgenia had chronic, debilitating injuries likely caused by bad training methods that derailed her plans to keep competing. She still considers that experience a positive.

That doesn't change the fact that one doesn't leave Eteri to be more successful and that Tursynbaeva would never have become a silver Worlds medalist if she stayed with Orser.
