YuNa Kim injured? | Golden Skate

YuNa Kim injured?

No, she's not injured, not that I know of.

I would like to have more detailed information on that rumor.
Thought I was having a heartattack reading the title.

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!! After all she's gone through! Is this just a rumor, or has there been any news of her injury in Korea?

There's been NO news on her injury, quite contrary she seems to be in great form and ready for 4CC.

There's a photo of Yuna two days ago, which a fan took, who accidentally met YuNa in a subway in Toronto, and she looked just fine. If she was injured, I don't think she would take a subway in the first place.

It's just a rumor, maybe someone was mentionning about her chronic back pain.
It has to be a RUMOR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

OK.
Someone from reliable source verified that it was a plain rumor.
Yuna is not injured and she is not pulling out of 4CC.

THANK GOD!!!

OH NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

Yuna decided to withdraw 4CC because of her hip joint pain.:banging:

But she is considering participating gala show. Of course, if she feels better.

see the article(Korean)

In 31 Jan, she felt hip pain under training and stopped the training. Doctor said she needed rest and treatment about for 2 weeks.

I hope she is in Canada until Worlds.

At least she still come to perform the gala. PPl who bought ladies competition ticket must be very disappointed.

OMG, what's going on??
I've been on emotional rollercoaster with this rumor all day, there was a source saying she's OK on korean skating board and now it all seems the rumor was true!!:no::no:

Yuna, I hope you get well soon before Worlds.
I'm so sad, I'm out of words....

I am so sad. According to reports, she can recover in two weeks. But, she has to be careful, I think. Her agent say she will go to Worlds. I really hope she will have no problem competeing in Sweden.

She can consider all she wants. According to new ISU rules, she can not skate in the gala if she does not compete. :frown:

I read somewhere that skater from the hosting country can give ex.performance without competing. But, I want to recommend her not to.

Aww poor Yu-Na, but her health comes first, and if it takes two weeks and to drop out of a competition, then she must do it. I would like it if she didn't do her exhibition, not to strain her hip, but maybe she feels bad for not competing at 4CC in Korea.

I hope she takes care so she can be awesome at Worlds!

Here's an English article (on a Korean site):
http://www.kois.go.kr/news/news/newsView.asp?serial_no=20080206007&part=108&SearchDay=&page=1

She had injured her left sacroiliac joint, a common injury among athletes who suffer from weak waists.

What does that mean? How can one's waist be "weak"? They mean a small waist? Or weak abdominal/back muscles? She surely has very strong abdominal muscles. But can this be related to her back injury last year? Maybe the weak back muscles led to additional stress on the hips? Or can it be related to her weight loss this year?

I've had several sacroiliac injuries over the years from dance. I've always been told that it's been caused by my very weak lower back ( I think this is what they mean) and compensating as a result. Mine tend to hurt me more in the back area. It's incredibly painful due to a whole host of compensatory injuries that seem to come along with it, and it has taken as much as 6 weeks to heal for me, although I never had the kind of intensive physio on tap that Yu Na should have access to.

The worrying thing for me is that these injuries once you have them, tend to keep re-occuring.

I used to dance and skate regularly, and about a year ago I started having severe and frequent back pains. I never went to see a specialist, because with the combination of basic remedies my family doctor gave me, and the gradual decrease in skating, the pain lessened -- when I stopped skating altogether, the back pains went away. I wonder if what I had was also a "sacroiliac injury"...

I hope that's not what Yu-na has, because it's really painful and hard to get rid of. I hope with her access to great medical care, that they can get rid of it quickly and permanently. With my back, it hurt for many months, and even now when I occasionally indulge myself by stepping on the ice, my back's sure to sting a little afterwards.

Yuna's back problem will never be cured 100%.

My older brother used to have a similar back pain when he was 10 years old, and now, after 20 years later, he's struggling with it again. He once slipped and fell walking on the ice and he couldn't go to work for 10 days because the pain was so severe he couldn't get out of his bed.

I've always worried about Yuna's health, she once considered retiring b/c of it and it tore me apart thinking how much pain she must be feeling in every day life.

Things seemed to be sorted out well so far this season but I thought it is b/c she's not trying something new, such as working on triple axel and she's in better training condition.

I don't know what to say.:frown:
I just went to Yuna's personal blog and she wrote "I'm really, really sorry."
Poor girl, why does she have to be sorry, she doesn't owe aything to anyone.

I just wish all the best for her.

so is she injured? If so... I hear a huge sigh of relief from the other skaters. at least they have a chance at gold. If not... good. I never like to hear about injuries.
