Saw this, Shoma is a real Champion in more ways than one 🥰

If you watch the 6-minute warm-up before the FS, you'll see that Kao broke his bootlaces, and was only able to skate 30 seconds in warmup and then he was able to skate his program quite clean except for a fall on his 4S- and apparently, behind the scenes Shoma had given him both his spare laces (Shoma uses a different brand of boots but the same brands of laces) and tapes to hold his bootlaces together. Kao used the tape Shoma gave him because the laces were too complicated to tie again- thankfully it mostly worked out!

Sports is about supporting each other- indeed, Shoma, indeed. And remember, he was behind Kao's score for the Free Skate! To keep calm while waiting for his turn, try helping out his fellow skater, and then go out to skate his FS like that. He's really special.

I made a documentary about Shoma i thought you guys would enjoy https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5OGb-peuyHU&t=353s
I dont know if any of you have already seen it, but tell me what you think!
I've already watched it more than once when it was first posted 4 months ago. It's awesome. Thank you for all the work you put into that. I will watch again when I get caught up on all the Sk Can practice stuff.

Regarding the boot laces -- is that just SO Shoma or what?! Thank you Sho for reminding us what good sportsmanship is!...All of a sudden, on the end where I was sitting, I saw Kao rolling up his pants leg and was wondering what was going on. Never a dull moment!

I love this -- the singer of Mea Shomenta has Sho on his InstaStory.

Ugh this really made my day. You have NO idea how much I have longed for Shoma to break ground and skate to countertenor arias for his competitive programs. I always thought someone was gonna beat him to do it but not only was he the first one, he also used Orlinski's recording. Orlinski is such a cool guy- he has his beautiful voice... and he's also a breakdancer!

I've thought it was wonderful online, but in person in the arena, it was seriously "thrills and chills" music. Sho flying around the ice in that costume that twinkles, I wanted it to last twice as long. It's hard to put the beauty into words. I'm still digesting it all!

Shoma is a true athlete and gentleman 😊 the sportsmanship he has is amazing! Always willing to help, being so kind and caring to other competitors, etc. not all athletes are like that.

Shoma really is a gentleman! But I wonder, why didn't Kao coach have a spare couple of laces and the tape? At that level, I thought anyone would know those two are mandatory 😅 well, now I guess they won't forget to bring them anymore 😬
I loved the podium selfie, Matteo was really excited about his third place.

I love all 3 of Shoma's programs this year :) I love his versatility !
Do you think he should keep Gravity for his short? I know so many are used to big, energetic (and sometimes more fun or quirky) pieces for his short. I like that he's putting on a clinic in skating skills, but I'm kind of torn. I like the languid, jazzy feel to Gravity. There's a poll here on GS about which program be should use for the short, and I think "Padam Padam" is way ahead in the poll.

I prefer Gravity.

I know some don't like Gravity for the sp. Personally I like it, but I agree that I would have chosen something more energetic, since the fp is also so smooth and lyrical. Padam padam is a beautiful piece, but it lacks some speed and energy to be used as a sp.
So I'm torn too.
