Michelle and Sasha certainly had their defenders while they were competing, Sure they were both criticized but their fans always defended them. Kimmie is no different she is popular and her fans will defend her.

But the difference is that I see many NON-fans coming to her defense as well. That never happened with Kwan/Cohen.
There have been a zillion posts about Kwan never winning an Oly. It was like a grave sin of omission.Hmm...probably because no one ever felt bad for them? There were, and are, so many talks about Sasha's inconsistency, but she usually landed at least five triples and skated a beautiful program. In fact, I've never seen her really sad or let down in K&C although there were a few occasions where she seemed underwhelmed. And Kwan...need I say no more?
I think Kimmie is much easier to identify with. She is a sweet, pretty girl with much talent but also vulnerable. She doesn't have that celebrity-personality Kwan and Sasha had.

It seems ridiculous to compare Kimmie with either Michelle or Sasha. Even when Sasha and Michelle missed jumps, they almost always made the podium. I also don't remember either Michelle or Sasha falling three times in a program. Also, both Michelle and Sasha had so much more to offer in their programs than jumps. This is my opinion so don't get all crazy........I just don't feel that Kimmie is a "special" skater in any way. She is a very cookie cutter type of skater without stage presence. No star quality so to speak.
Dizzy
I think I'm going to be even more nervous watching Kimmie at Worlds, than I ever was watching Sasha!
So best of luck to Kimmie. I sure hope she can pull it all together and deliver two skates that she can feel good about...
I know the reporter is entitled to his opinion - but is it psychologically wise to tell people that a tiny exhibition went wrong?
But something happened before the grand prix final and then again at nationals. Maybe we will never know...but something has to cause a skater to just break down like she has.
I always got VERY nervous when Sasha skated... always watched every program at the edge of my seat. Same with Evan recently. Some skaters have this effect on me... but with most I can sit back and enjoy even if I am pulling for he/she/them to win. Kimmie is not one of those skaters that I would get nervous over. Maybe because I am not pulling her to win. I am rather indifferent.
