Well he is in 4th after the short. I think he can definitely make it on the podium. Let’s all send every ounce of positive energy we have to Kazuki. He can do it!

I've been looking for a video but no luck so far
Yeah. Not a perfect skate, but not too bad either. The way he recovered after the fall was impressive, his 4S2T and 3A were really nice and as usual he delivered on the steps and performance. Could the judges have been a bit more generous on his GOE and PCS? Yes. Was he criminally underscored? Not this time, which is a relief. I was really worried that the judges would lowball him to death because he didn't make it to GPF.
Apart from Shoma winning, the competition is pretty open and honestly anything could happen, especially considering how chaotic Japanese Men are. In many ways, this is a result that suits Kazuki - he tends to do better when he is the challenger going into the free, as opposed to 'one of the guys to beat'. He said he's confident that he will hit it in the free

Yeah. I think he's mentioned before, he wants to try to go to the 2026 Olympics so we should expect a few seasons ahead for him at least. But yeah, he's being realistic in the sense that's not a huge amount of time. However, bear in mind things can change - he thought he'd be retired by now so who knows?

Exactely, who knows? With physio treatments and awareness about injury prevention etc now being a thing, I see more chances for some longevity than we had recently. Not everyone will be a Yuzuru or Daisuke, but the more "never say never" we get, the better. I know, the athletes need to plan and think about it but I'd rather not know

I didn’t want to mention this until after Japanese Nationals but I thought maybe my positive energy could reach Kazuki as he continues to skate. My first exhibition was tonight and it was FANTASTIC! I made a few mistakes in my program but I loved and enjoyed every single second of it. I smiled from ear to ear the whole time even when I fell near the end of my program. It truly was amazing. I almost cried tears of joy at the end. I remembered what Kazuki said when he told skaters “don’t fight the ice.” But I also thought “what would Kazuki do?” I covered up my fall well and showed so much power and emotion in my skate. I hope Kazuki if you or your team sees this it will make you smile and warm your heart. I’m the same age and I can’t wait to see what happens next in skating. An incredible night 100%
He said in an interview a few months back if he had bad results for 2 seasons..he would move on..Good thoughts for the FS..

Yeah, I guess that it depends on what he would define as 'bad results'. For example, some would say his GP season was a failure since he didn't make it to GPF, but from Kazuki's interviews we can see his outlook is positive, and he was happy with his growth year-on-year and the fact that he now can get reasonably good scores even when he makes mistakes on jumps.

◇ 24th All Japan Figure Skating Championship Men's Official Practice (Osaka, Towa Yakuhin Lactab Dome) Kazuki Tomono (24) = Ueno Shiba Skating Club = who was 4th in the short program (SP) on the 23rd and was 2nd in the Four Continents Championship last season. I adjusted it at the rink at the match venue for the free on the 25th. Tomono, who appeared as a member of the 4th group, practiced playing "Comedy 'Katokumori' Overture" to be used in this season's free skate. Firmly icing. Although the third quad Salchoh fell, he tried to fix it after turning the corner and landed firmly. Tomono will start his free skate at 8:39 pm on the 25th as the 21st run.

I’m sure all of us who love and support Kazuki wish he would skate for many many more years but yeah realistically maybe he’ll only skate for another season or 2 before retirement. Whatever he decides it’ll be good. Even when the time comes and he does retire I’m sure we won’t stop seeing him or learning more about him. He could become a coach, a choreographer, a sports nutritionist (since that is what he got his degree in I think). Or maybe he’ll be a promoter for all things sauna, onsen ramen and Osaka for Japan. I can see him being a tour guide for foreigners to show them Osaka. Maybe he’ll have his own YouTube channel.

He said he will go up until the 2026 Olympics, so I'd rather stick to this timeline...

I'm still trying to process what this means for Kazuki. Finally, a Nationals senior podium. Finally, going to Worlds as a representative, and not as the second alternate!
You know what I'm most proud of? It's not like he's had a perfect season and perfect skates. Yet, he pulled through. He got it together somehow despite mistakes and delivered on the non-jumping elements. No botched spins, no meltdowns. This shows true grit, it shows how much he's grown and it shows how much he can grow. I can't wait to see him at Worlds.
Also!!! Finishing in 3rd means he'll be invited to tomorrow's gala
And!! He hasn't been assigned to 4CC, so he'll be competing at Kokutai with Nobu!!!
ETA: He's the first alternate for 4CC, though...

Hi!!! I hope you remember me!
I just wanted to wish you all a Merry Christmas and join the celebrations for this long awaited qualification!!! All the historical members of this fan fest know how much suffering All Japan Nationals have been for the past 4-5 years for us Kazuki fans, and now we can finally celebrate!!!
My thoughts go especially to Kirara and Surimi
And the best thing is that this qualification coincides with his friend Sota's first qualification, I can't even imagine how happy those two are now!
