Mens Short

Johnny and Jeff really have the lowest PCS in the top group, that is kind of hilarious.:rofl::rofl: But I don't really mind, the margins are so tiny among the top six concerning PCS.

But it also shows where a well-balanced, well-executed program combined with pure skating can get you.

The camera also show Scott Davis for a brief moment, looking professional.

Is he judging here? Technical Controller?

With or without the deduction, Joubert will still be 6th. I know the point can matter in the end, but it's not as if he's going to shoot up the standings if the deduction stands.

....And now we know that the scores at 4CC were massively inflated. Buttle rocked this program today, everything was perfect and he got less points than at 4CC. Whereelse Verner scored about the same at Europeans with about the same performance.

That is a very interesting comparison, Medusa. It leads me to believe that the scores may indeed have been inflated at 4 CC; thank you.

Hope the short program showing boosts their PCS to where they are supposed to be. Sadly, short program results do influence PCS in the long!

True about the standings now, but anything can happen in the Free Skate, and often does lol. With CoP, at the end of the competition, every point counts; even fractions of a point can determine who gets a medal and who doesn't.

Exactly. And that particular deduction is fishy. No one deducted it at Skate Canada or Europeans.

Scott Davis

He is the technical specialist today.

Based in Calgary, he has been coaching Vaughn Chipeur, the Canadian jumping jock.

Scott Davis - All that spinning he was known for back in the day has hindered his better judgment. Maybe he's scatterbrained.

How many points are deducted when a skater finishes after the alloted SP time length? Would that deduction be the same for any GP or other competition as it is at World's? Is Joubert's current deduction reasonable?

It's 1 point from the total score under COP. That happened to Sasha Cohen in the 2005 Worlds SP in Moscow. Wasn't Michelle deducted 1 tenth of a point on the 6.0 system from both her technical and presentation scores back in Dortmund? Correct me if I'm wrong.

How long does it take to become a technical specialist? Scott seems fairly young to be one...though he has skated.

Gotta love the icenetwork now

"Oh Canada! Buttle stuns world, wins short"

Nice headline. Wouldn't it be great if Buttle and Weir make the podium? Still think it's Takahashi's to loose tomorrow. But Lambiel needs to be on the podium too  How about Takahashi 1st, Weir 2nd and Lambiel, Verner, Joubert and Buttle have an unbreakable tie for the Bronze!?!:agree:

This is great.
With all the European bias and whatnot, three NON-EUROS on top!!
Haha

NOW STEPHANE, WIN THIS THING TOMORROW!!!

I don't get how Buttle winning the short is stunning or unexpected. He's been SO CLOSE SO MANY TIMES IN THE SP! 2nd SP in 2005 and in 2007! He is spectacular when he puts the jumps together with his known footwork, skating skills, choreography, and interpretation. The LP always tells the real story though.

It's a pity for the lp - Buttle may have won silver in 2005 and bronze at olympics - but let's be honest: he had very flawed long programs both times, the other skaters just sucked even more.

I would love to see him putting it all together tomorrow. The same with Lambiel's LP for that matter - can he please give me one perfect performance of this LP that I can download and watch for the next decade, everytime figure skating gets disappointing and boring?

If you talk about consistency, Takahashi is really the favourite - but Johnny managed lots of clean programs this season too, he fell just 2 times all season (both at GPF ). Verner improved throughout the season, he became quite consistent after the two dismal first competitions (Nebelhorn and TEB). Damn, I can't wait for tomorrow.

My fearless prediction at final standings:

1. Lambiel (:love::love: He falls five times but still wins in my head! So there)

2. Takahashi (Rock solid, but not enough flair compared to Steph)

3. Verner (The cute guy hangs on for the medal!)

4. Weir (His attempt at quad or lack of it hurts him)

5. Joubert (No artistry, but his jumps keep him ahead of Buttle)

6. Buttle (He chokes in the long with two falls)

Now now, Jeff fans, don't be mad.
I would love for Jeff to do well tomorrow.
But with all those guys bunched so tightly together, I just don't see how he might keep his spot with his technical shortcomings, which seem to derail his chances more often than not.

It was just announced that Joubert was docked for vocals. I hope that his team protests, because he skated to the same short all season long.

Vocals?
What does that mean??
He said something they didn't like, or is it about the music???
What is it?
