Gala exhibition

Mao and Yu-Na were both beautiful. I think the exhibitions highlight the main difference in their skating - how they use their music. Mao uses it as a vehicle for her excellent line and flow, but doesn't necessarily hit every detail - this would explain why she's been chasing the music in a lot of her performances. In contrast, Yu-Na's line could certainly be improved but she's an exceedingly sensitive skater. Notice how each of her moves have come at the exact same spot in the music for each of her performances this year? There's a reason why she's been able to do that.

Yes, that's exactly it. Mao has amazing posture/line/positions.. (I adore Mao's spirals),,,Mao reminds me of Sasha that way. Mao's footwork too is fabulous.

Yu-na's postions stretch isn't nearly as good as Mao's. But I think that Yu-na's arms are the best in figure skating, some of the best I've seen, and her neck ;position too. Her arms are so exquisite in my mind, they make up for any position deficiency. Although fixing her turnout and perhaps not doing bendy/bendy spins would help. What I love about Yu-na is how musical she is, hitting every beat of the music. And the emotion that comes out of Yu-na's performances....I love both girls...

Hi! I need your help. Could you tell me what was the song played during the gala performance of Delobel/Schönfelder? Thank you very much! Tina

Jeffrey Buttle skating to 'Il Pajazzo" - Unbelievable, simply unbelievable.............I'm almost at a loss for words! These past few days he has been in a class all by himself!

Johnny Weir skating to 'Ave Maria' - how beautiful was that?! Yes, the Swedish TV cameras have seemed to be in love with Johnny - following him everywhere - but aren't we all?!

Stéphane Lambiel - what emotion, what a performance!

And for some comical relief - our very own Swede, Kristoffer Berntsson, being chased by a mosquito (or was that a bee?!) all over the rink!

In fact, everyone performed beautifully - thanks for a wonderful show!

What a beautiful gala. Yu-Na looks stunning in her exhibition costume. I wish she would of used this outfit in the short. I didn't like the music, but choreography and presentation is breathtaking. I think one of my all time favorite Yu-Na gala no. (& exhibition no. period) is the one she used for her junior worlds that she skated to w/the music of "Ben" by Michael Jackson.

ITA!! When I watched "Ben" for the first time, I felt like the gravity system was not working around her.

I love this gala program. I can't wait to see it and Lambiel's with a better camera work. Maybe from ESPN?

I'm glad I'm not the only one who loves the "Ben" no.:agree:

Umm, it seems that they will be showing the exhibition on April 5th on ESPN. (I'm just checking Heather's figure skating schedule) & she's real good w/dates & all.

V/M: Great skating, but the music is rather unmemorable. They could do so much better, IMHO!

I wish they would continue skating to Tenessee waltz, instead of their new number. Tenessee Waltz was so much more beautiful and romantic, and the tune and lyrics suit their style perfectly! 'Dare you to move' which they used this season does not complement them at all!
