^ This would require a change in the rules. Under current rules, if the technical specialist calls wrong edge, the judges must give negative GOE regardless of other factors.
So in this sense, a point is automatically deduced. Then the judges can give even more negative GOE if they want. But they can't give 0 or positive GOE. (Once in a while a judge makes an error on this rule. For instance, Mao Asada got a +1 GOE on her triple flutz from one judge. This is a judging error, however -- possibly a keying error.)
