It wil be interesting to see if Bradie Tennell will be back to her pre-injury form. I really thought she was done after last season. I expect big things from Isabeau and I'm hoping Lindsay can make an impact. I really like her skating.

And also Lucas Broussard (Cup of China). He's one the skaters this season I'm very interested in . I want to see how he transitions to the senior rank.

A lot could happen between now and US Nationals, so I haven't penciled in my World Team quite yet. LOL

I also saw the Instagram of Jason getting new choreo from Birthday Boy Rohene. No hints as to music, alas.

Speaking of music and choreo, have there been any clues from Ilia? I'm hoping for something in a different direction this year.

Very interested in seeing Lucas B and the move to Sr- I also thought he might stay in jr one more year, but happy to have him move on.

Okay - where is SAM MINDRA? He was lights out at Nationals last year. His long program was wonderful. Looking at the US assignments I see some that make me question who was choosing these skaters? So happy to see Hawayek and Baker with a couple of assignments. I want to see them on a podium or two. Fingers crossed their health issues are in the past. They are so entertaining.

I don’t think Sam has had international experience as a senior. His USFS bio still lists him as a junior. If I’m reading it right his only international experience is Cranberry Cup as a junior and he finished 8th. Looks like the men’s TBD spots is full for Skate America? Don’t they normally wait until much later to make that decision? Anyway USFS only has control over the TBD spots for Skate America.

The US fed only controls their own GP assignments. For SKAM, they picked Ilia to bring in the crowd, which is completely expected, Andrew and Naumov. Lucas, Camden, Liam and Jimmy were invited by the other GP hosts, so I am not so sure how much USFED had a say in how that turned out. For Liam, it's a no-brainer as he does train in the Vancouver area where the event will be held, just like SKAM invited Gogolev who trains in the USA.

Will Ilia bring in a crowd? Nothing against Ilia, he is an amazing skater, but in my experience the women are what brings in the US crowd.

Aymoz had qualified for two GP assignments via his world ranking/world standing (I can't remember which is used to determine GP allocations). I think if the French fed gave Aymoz a slot at the French GP then it would count as one of their host picks and they would, in effect, have one less slot across the GPs as a whole.

Kevin Aymoz qualified for two GP assignments due to finishing fourth at Worlds. He chose these assignments. As the highest-ranked skater of the second tier of seeded skaters, he was free to chose from all six assignments, and he decided on Skate America and GP Espoo for whatever reason.

Maybe he really enjoyed these two competitions in the past, maybe he wanted two assignments with a decent amount of time between them and to the GPF (if he should qualify), maybe the French fed asked him to not choose GP France (To avoid skating against Adam? Or so they'd have three host spots?), or maybe he wanted to avoid competing against Shoma - We really don't know, but we do know it was his own choice.

Interesting; do you have a source for the statement that Kévin gets to choose his assignments as No. 4?

I know from interviews with Meagan Duhamel that when she and Eric were World Champions, Skate Canada asked them what comps they preferred. Meagan and Eric did not directly choose; they told their fed, and the fed made it happen.

I have not heard any similar interviews for the fourth fifth and sixth spots, I would be interested to read/listen to them.

I assume Shoma requested a later start for his season, he's headlining a new anime-themed ice show in August and September. So I think his GP spots are reflective of that.

Kevin trains part of the year in Florida, the timezone is one hour difference and only a 2 hour flight. France has 3 spots for Europeans, so the French Federation might use the GP to decide who gets the third spot. I think Kevin got 2 good assignments.

It is little bit surprising to see China having all host spots as TBD. Let's hope there will be local pairs. Any hope to happen so?

Isn't it weird that they keep all home spots undecided but are able to assign other spots to skaters (one f, one m iirc). So the spots outside of China.

To me it is a very smart decision from the French Fed. Kévin is probably part of the decision too because indeed he is a 4th seed and he would have a say in which GP he would like after the first 3 seeds have chosen. At least, this is how I remember how the seeding works.

French GP "got" Ilia who is the 3rd seed... pretty much... that means that Shoma and Jun picked other events and Ilia was stuck with GP France.... but look at where is the 4th to 6th seed by not choosing Kévin, they have made life much easier for Adam who is the reigning European Champion/ GP France reigning gold medal winner.

Lucas, with his 8th place finish at worlds is then the 6th seeded skater .. and Adam can definitely compete with him and any of the European guys since he beat them all at Euros.
