Now back at the hotel. This was my first time seeing the Browns live. They take the ice with a bit of attitude—not arrogance exactly, but as if to say, We Are Something Special and We Are Going To Show You Right Now. And then they proceed to do it. Just amazing performance skills—you can’t take your eyes off them. I am so glad training part time in Montreal hasn’t beaten that out of them!
Another team that looked good tonight was Pate and Bye! I’ve not been a fan in the past, but they have clearly upped their game since I saw them last, skating more freely (and faster!) than before, with a top-notch program to Bobby Brown’s My Prerogative. Though they still remind me of teddy bears, they could not have pulled this off even a year ago, so, well done.
May I also say that one thing I love about this year’s RD theme is that everyone is using the ORIGINAL versions of their music—I assume they have to, but still! And the choices are more creative than we might have expected. Tonight I heard not only INXS, Prince, George Michael, and Janet/Michael Jackson, as you might expect, but the B52s, Blondie, Billy Idol, Men Without Hats, the Pointer Sisters, Run DMC, and many more!
