Pairs: Martina Ariano Kent/Charly Laliberte Laurent
Ice Dance: Savanna Martel/William Oddson, Chloe Nguyen/Brendan Giang

I am extremely surprised that Skate Canada is not using their two spots for pairs and hope this is just a mistake that will be rectified (not convinced of that at all, unfortunately).

An excellent twitter thread introducing the women single skaters of the national and nextgen teams. It has a video for each skater.

Kara is not in her top form. I think Skate Canada made the selection based on the performance from last season.

strange indeed.. at the same time... there are 5 teams on next gen and I think only 3?? are relatively ready... I don't know what they will do... but it's weird indeed.

re dance : i noticed the Everest and Jamie are subs... and they are not listed on next gen... this is weird too... I don't remember skaters not getting on the next gen, but getting JPG assignments... the opposite happens tons... being on next gen doesn't mean they will be sent out to JGP... but yeah...

Last season, they sent out 3 of 4 teams at Next Gen Camp, this season they're sending 3 out of 6 (it seems like that's the plan?). This might not sound that terrible, but if they only send out three pairs, that means that this season you had to score 127.12 to be considered for a JGP, while last season you had to score 107.47.

Both Schmitz/Taylor and Wilberforce/Dore outscored teams that were sent out last season, so it does feel kind of unfair to let spots go to waste. Skate Canada literally could have sent out the top three to two JGPs, and then given fourth and fifth one JGP spot each (if Tristan is allowed to compete internationally).

All I have nice to say about McNamara and Spiridonov's RD is I like her dress.

Alison Schumacher has been removed from the WS list together with the retired skaters and split pairs and ice dance teams, so I'm guessing this is confirmation of her retirement.

On a more positive note, some new international assignments:

Anthony Paradis was assigned to JGP Osaka

Emmanuelle Proft/Nicolas Nadeau have been assigned to CS Autumn Classic

I have my ticket for ACI already :) So happy... Edrian will also be there...

Anthony was that boy I found out about on the lesser known skater's thread a while back, I will watch out for him.

he is in awful shape... hopefully he will get his jumps in order for JGP.. He will be at CQE next week if you want to stream it....

I might do that (not if it's something like two in the morning though! That might make me a Skating Fan failure... but no).
