I glanced at Urmanov here and there while Voronov was skating and he had hope in his eyes and at the end went crazy with joy.Yes, Russia will get 2 men at Worlds in Los Angeles.
It's too bad that Sergei Voronov's 4th place Tango FS was "chacked" from ESPN's broadcast (due to losing about 20 minutes, it appears that both he and Carriere were edited out), but from what I saw on the 'net, Voronov's jumps (including quad toe, two triple axels) were impressive. He didn't attempt any triple lutzes (reportedly due to an injury earlier in the season). It was great to see coach Alexei Urmanov so happy after his star pupil's free skate.![]()
Voronov was great indeed and he mad the most improvement compared to last year. From 19th to 7th, it was a huge jump on the standings. He needs a kick *** program next time. And Im really curious about who will be the 2 russians on Los Angeles. Voronov is probably the safest bet but then we have Lutai, Uspenski, Griazev, Dobrin, and now Borodulin which Iim positive will move to Senior next season.
I had read somewhere the Russians were going to try to recycle some of their old champoins.
I presume you mean Yagudin and Plushenko. If they are up to it, why not? I hope they realize that a skater has just won Worlds without a Quad.I had read somewhere the Russians were going to try to recycle some of their old champoins.

I love love love Yagudin, he was the reason I began watching some years ago (I fell in love with him and figure skating during the Olympics -02), but if he, against all odds, come back now, I don't think he won't stand a chance. Everything has change so much since he left. The competitors level today is so high.
Yeah, you're maybe right. But like someone else said; Yagudin has never competed with CoP, Plushenko has.
