Can't wait to see who gets what and assigned to where!!!
It isn't great for the European and North American skaters that the GPF and JGPF are in Seoul, and it is a double whammy for the Euro and NA skaters who competed in NHK. Jet lag becomes a serious issue. Skaters who don't have much of their own money can't afford to arrive early, since they have to pay for their own accommodations and meals up to the first day of practice.
The only skaters who benefit are the Japanese (Takahashi, Asada, Nakano), the Chinese (Zhangs, Pang/Tong) and Yu-Na Kim.
It isn't so bad for the JGPF skaters, who haven't had any recent competitions before the JGPF.

I assume skaters good enough to qualify for GPF would have their expenses covered by their federations, no?
Out of 24 skaters and teams who qualified for GPF last year, 6 skaters/teams were Japanese, Chinese, and Korean, and 3 teams were Russians. So I don't see having GPF in Asia any more unfair than having one in NA or Europe.
But having two round trips between NA and Asia within couple weeks would truly suck. I really hope federations take this into account if there's such case.
Actually, Europe would be fairer for all concerned. It isn't as far a trip for the NA skaters as Asia, and it isn't as far for the Asian skaters as NA.
As far as paying the expense of a skater or team arriving a week ahead of time, that depends on the federation. Some may be willing to foot the bill, others not.
If a federation had two singles skaters, a dance team and a Pairs team going to the GPF, that would be a pretty heavy expense.

This is not an easy venue to come up with and it does reflect much of the results.
My only suggestion was to have it in Hawaii, if Honalulu has the basics for holding a GP.

As if we didn't have enough competitions in Europe already.
BTW, I highly doubt any of the competitors who qualify for the GPF at NHK will train in Japan or Korea between the two events whether their federations cover the expenses or not. Both countries have trouble providing sufficient ice time for even their own skaters.

Hmm, let me think - they did it in Europe the last time, but I remember that the GPF in Torino seemed a bit funeral-like. Wherelse 4CC at Korea was a big party with screaming fans, an amazing crowd - probably better for the sport.
And how would Honolulu help the European skaters?
They have to do it somewhere, the only place that would be fair to all the athletes would be a nice little village on Antarctica. Plus - they wouldn't need a rink, could just skate on the frozen ocean. And all the well-dressed birds there would get to play the audience!
That's nice, but not soon enough to my liking.
Who's in charge of this? Anyone has an e-mail adress? We could try some "gentle" persuasion to speed things up...
As for the host continent, I have some serious reservations about parking this in Europe. Either is rotates continents, or it moves to totally neutral territory. Any good rink in Africa? If not, I'm sure there is a huge arena in Dubai or somewhere in the area...

CAPETOWN: Now there's a trip for the skaters. Except for the locals and maybe those in Buenos Aires, Capetown will be a minimum of 14 hours not counting the transfers from one flight to another.

Well I still can't wait to see which 3 American girls will be chosen for Skate America. Will they give it to the top 3 from nationals or will they give veteran Kimmie another go at the top competitions? Its too long to wait!
