Who will be the 2 US Ladies for next year's Worlds?

This is the last cheesefest of the old season. This is about the time when the USFS used to do Marshall's.

For the eligible skaters, the first summer comps begin at the end of June and continue through early September.

I need food for fodder. Is that the correct expression. I would like to see competions from end of June through early September. I know of Liberty, but isn't that just for N.Amercians? Are there any Euros or Asian early comps?

I am going with Rachael & Mirai. I don't think Zhang is at her best at nationals. I hope Kimmie can improve on her technique, but I don't see her beating these girls. I see her 4 or 5 with a good skate at nationasl.

Maybe that's just what Zhang needs...the spotlight to be off of her. I wouldn't count her out in a second...

Why does everybody think Zhang will not be at her best at next Nationals? Because she wasn't at her best at this season's Nationals? That was one competition - she had lots of good competitions throughout the season. Perhaps she just had a bad day last season - her long at Nationals was already much better than the short.

I am not a fan of Zhang, but I think she showed that she is a fighter, that she is willing to sort out her technical problems (less UR towards the end of the season) and that she is rather consistent.

I think that Flatt will probably make it (by the way, Flatt had a great overall season - she wasn't just good at Nationals and Junior Worlds, she has already beaten Nagasu in the long at the GPF and had a number of very good and clean LPs).

Zhang has in my opinion the same chance as Nagasu, perhaps even more of a chance. Wagner and Meissner also have a good chance.

As I said, there is a lot at stake next year. I think Any two of Flatt/Zhang/Nagasu/Meissner/Wagner can make it.

My preference: Wagner and Flatt
My prediction: Flatt and Zhang

Mirai and Ashley's free skating in their last few competitions have both left me with an impression that they may struggle with jumps more than before and more than Flatt and Zhang possibly might in the next season. But we all know predictions in figureskating mean so little. No one predicted Buttle would win both SP and FS in the Worlds.

I would definitely have to agree with you on that. Not one of those five can really be counted out.
For my personal preference however, I would like to see Zhang in one of those two spots. The other spot, I have no idea. But even then, I can't predict who will be there.

That's what's unusual about Caroline. She failed to make the podium at '06 nationals, then tore up the Junior Grand Prix. She came to prominance in international competition, not national. She has never won a national title in any age group, and of the 6 victories the USFSA lists, 4 of them are international. She is truely an international skater.

I don't worry about her doing well at worlds; I worry about her getting there.

I think it will be Zhang and Meissner. Or maybe Zhang and Nagasu. Or maybe Zhang and Sasha!:)

Right. Sasha still has not mentioned her decision about coming back, but I think that if she does, we will not see her until the olympic year. She could not train and get two program together in time for this season.

I would soooooo love to see an Olympic team of Sasha, Mirai & Caroline:rock::love:

If I cant have Michelle back, I want this dream team:rock::clap:

If Sasha doesnt come back, Im hoping it will be Mirai, Caroline & Rachel:rock:

I think a Hughes comeback is more likely than a Cohen one...much more so. That said, I'm not sure if Em wants to stay in college now, or whether she would like to take some time off and really try for 2010 again. And I don't think she will be able to beat TWO of these girls if so, which would leave her off the World team. I guess she could always switch to Canada instead.

Anything amiss if we check out the GPs and their Final before predicting Nats? I think the USFS will be watching them closely to choose the two after resuts of Nats are known.

The GP Finals are international. No?

The GP is not used to pick the National team as far as I know. The National champion is guaranteed a spot; the next 1 or 2 usually go as well. The official rules do allow some leeway for skaters other than the champion, but they usually go in order.

Yes. Right. :)

BTW, Katrina is flying under the radar in all these discussions. If she gets more of the harder jumps down, could she get into the mix?
