In other news, Roman posted an update on his skating injury, dated 09/21/2023:

In this video, he was optimistic about skating at Skate Canada and we know how that turned out 😭

He mentioned skating a Senior B event if he doesn’t get a 2nd GP event. I think that will be Warsaw and if not ready then, I guess Golden Spin would be a back up option.

He mentioned skating a half event locally. Therefore, I wonder if he will skate SP for ONT Sectionals or the Challenger Event 👏

Right now, he is skating his programs
with only 3T, 3S and 2A jumps. So, I imagine that is his current short program layout.

For free skate, 3 3T’s, 3 3S’s and one 2A. Which, we know doesn’t count.

I wonder how he’d score if he only does
SP: 3S, 3T-3T, 2A
I think he could still score (30 TES would be the max score)
Is 40 PCS score too inflated for Roman for this layout? Personally, I think a skater like Roman could still top 35 PCS for the 65+ score, even with this easy layout.

FP: 3S-2T, 2A-eu-2S, 3T-2T, 2Lo, 3S, 3T, 2A

I think he could score 50 TES with this layout still get 75 for PCS. So, 125+

So, overall 190+, if he skates cleanly 😜

I’m most worried about 3F and 3Lz jumps. He can’t even do 2F, or 2Lz. I hope his ankle heals in time for ONT local event, prior to Warsaw. I’m looking forward to part 4 of his injury update.

I hope to read nothing about Holiday in Ice near his name 😬

Nic Nadeau never recovered his lutz after his ankle injury. I hope it is not the same for Roman :(

Sure but he does have the perfect jump layout for HOI :p

I would say his recovery is fairly on track for the type of injury that he has (ankle syndesmosis sprain, not to be confused with the more common lateral sprain). It's annoying because it's in an area that's hard to brace and takes a long time to heal completely even if it feels mostly OK in daily life. I've had mild ones that each took a couple of months to recover from, and I'm not competitive 😅 F/Lz in particular tends to torque the affected ligament, so he probably just needed more time to heal. Warsaw Cup is ~3 months from the injury. I think he'll probably attempt all jump types, maybe doubling A/F/Lz if the ankle still bugs him.

Do you know if it's the same injury Nic endured? He was out forever and then came back lutzless.

Hmm... I tried to look up more details, but just found this article cited on Nic's Wiki page. Seems like he was out for 3 months and the jumps initially affected were Sal/Axel/Toe 🤔 Nic's a leftie so things can get confusing to visualise, but basically these jumps take off on the foot that holds the edge on a lutz (not the picking foot, which is the case for Roman).

Theoretically an injury on either foot could hurt on a lutz, just in different ways. Rika Kihira had a left-foot injury one season that stopped her doing lutzes, and she picks with her right foot.

The start orders for Skate Ontario November sectionals are posted. Gabrielle Daleman is not competing, but is listed as having a bye. Roman Sadovsky is entered for it.

Also they're going back to the old scoring software.

Nice to see that Aidan Wright (Jazmine's former partner) has found a new partner. She was a singles skater last season, so I'm not expecting huge feats, but always nice to see more baby pairs.

They unretired ? :)
Wait. I thought he had accepted a commission in the Canadian Air Force, or something like that? It’s hard to imagine that going away, or if continuing, leaving him with much time to skate and train!

Ice dance is always full of surprises!

Who knows... I guess we will find out more later. Haley was trying to find a new partner but it's hard to do so when you are at her stage in her career but remained mostly in the shadow of other Canadian teams. Perhaps he hated the army or perhaps she was very convincing :) I am sure we will hear about this later on. I am glad to see them coming back. I have something for figure skaters called Nik :) except maybe for Memola who is the exception confirming the rule.

Stephen for a last minute addition to France and Wesley for NHK. I was hoping Stephen would get the France spot, but thought it'd be a longshot due to the timing. Now please assign Conrad to Zagreb, along with Kaiya, Sara-Maude and Justine. Save some money and send Matthew along too.

Skate Canada got lucky with Stephen and Wesley picking up second assignments. They got lucky that Keegan was able to get back that second men's spot in 2021 and even luckier that Roman was able to secure the second Olympic spot at Nebelhorn. They are so very lucky that Maddie hasn't been injured seriously enough to take her out of competition. They have to stop relying on luck with the singles skaters.

Sad for Conradye
Sad for Conrad
Yes... although he hasn't really done anything to suggest he deserves another shot... sounds harsh I know, but I think Skate Canada was the worst I have ever seen him skate in terms of performance level. If he had at least committed to the choreography and program and sold it a bit more, it could be overlooked. But neither the content or presentation of the program did him any favors unfortunately.

Perhaps but it's not like Gogolev had such a wonderful outing either at SKAM... and Wesley... i don't know. Honestly, all 3 have been disappointing.
