2023-24 Russian Grand Prix - Stage 4 - Kazan

Muravieva is very evidently and also self-admittedly totally shook from that skate.

Apparently shes saying shes not totally happy with her skate, so she has much more to give which is exciting!

Hilarious take. Did you see when Sadkova stopped in the ice and started her Sotnikova-esque roboticism? Come on. That was not as good as Muravieva from even the edgiest and most contrarian perspective. And yea Valieva wins off charisma and her forte of goregous cohesion but this short isnt a show of her artistry at all - her days of deep artistry are not in this season. Dont worry, I admit your god Valieva deserved first, you can relax.

I thought 2.5 points PCS off Valieva was quite reasonable. Valieva's jumps were better there's that massive extension after every jump. Glad to see her get rewarded for 2A it's up there with Sakamoto's.

Sofia's program was more difficult and sophisticated, Kamila-IMO-the standard issue Eteri program with the same leg kicks etc. Spins for both girls were fantastic, jumps about the same as well, but I would have given the PCS edge to Sofia.
You have no objective argument other than "it looked harder" but that has nothing to do with anything. The difficulty of choreo movement in and of itself has nothing to do with the years of life Valieva gave to ballet to be an actual master of every kinaesthetic specific possible. Again, I'm the biggest Muravieva fan here and dont care for Valieva at all but the artistry was not in question today.

A mediocre pianist can play a Liszt sonata with technical precision but that has nothing to do with its artistic merit as compared to a Horowitz nocturne performance.

Yea and in hindsight I agree, I just felt like complaining about something, lol. But Sadkova was not like Muravieva by any possible perspective. Muravieva is an extremely certain 2nd in PCS.

I think the judges got Sadkova's PCS right in the end I thought 34 initially but 33, Alina is about right it was a good performance but didn't have precision of the top two.

Muraviova will be happy though because she has 6 weeks to restore the triple axel. With the triple axel and all the injuries I think a podium at the Russian championships is a lock.

My problem with Muravieva's skating is that her programs and costumes and dresses are similar every time.
Her costumes are the same because its her distinct style that works perfectly. Her mother literally birthed her so I think the dresses she makes couldnt possibly suit Muravieva worse than anything else. And her programs are objectively not banal at all. Her previous 2 SP were similar but thats it. Otherwise her FS of every year have been distinct and sophisticated at a very high level and her SP this year is very evidently a first of that style for her.

But it's kinda boring. It isn't like the girl can't sell anything else.

You know I'm actually in utter shock that in the face of Muravieva's Gatsby, Juliet and current FS, the figure skating community has somehow had the unparalleled audacity to label her 1 dimensional. Like I actually dont understand.

You mean her dresses? Yea whatever, if you wanna see her wear some sparkly disco dress then thats your subjective opinion.

But calling her skating style boring and repetitive (like people do) is mind boggling and beyond wrong (just plain uneducated).

Dresses and programs. What i call "boring" is the repetition of more or less the same programs and costumes. Not the programs and costumes themselves.

Yea, repetitive, thats literally what I said. Watch her Gatsby, Juliet and current FS. If you can come back and say shes repeating the same emotions and essence then thats funny bro.

Yo I'd literally love to hop in Discord for live debate right now with any one of you with specific examples and arguments.

Topic: Artistic diversity of Muravieva's programs in the last 3 years.

To win you must provide substantial evidence withstanding my scrutiny on how Muravieva's past 3 free skates could possibly suggest a lack of artistic diversity.

Waiting on DMs from all of you who are so confident in such a funny opinion.

If Kamila is willing to attempt the 4T tomorrow it means it is stable and she is a lock for victory.

3A is Muraviova's best jump, so it would mean she is not going to attempt it in the free skate if she can't jump it in the short.

Kamila is last so she could wait to see what Muraviova skates and if somehow brings back the 3A and skates flawlessly then bring back the 4T.

But the 4T is ironically one of her easier jumps in my opinion. Her lutz makes me cringe everytime.

One of the best short programs without a 3A ever skated today. Historic moment.

Kamila a 10/1 on favourite to win the event, but it's going to interesting watching this free skate because she was a little out of shape and the program was not polished at all in the test skates.

And let's keep today's short program in context.

She just skated one of the great short programs minus a 3A in history coming off a long, emotionally draining hearing two days ago. That would mess with my head at my age let alone at 17. I don't know how she does it.

Caught up with the women. The top 4 was amazing.

But I'm most glad for Talalaikina in 5th place! That was her best short program score ever in a Russian stage/Championship.!
But if she wants to go to Nationals, she must hold on to that 5th place. The girls behind will hunt her like werewolves.

Pretty sure Muravieva had a 4S at some point as well and she eluded to working on quads a bit ago.

I think this arena would be incredible live with the low ceiling and lighting. A very intimate venue.

Is this Tatar music? I'm not familiar. I'm enjoying it I'm a few drinks in.
