Kazuki Tomono

Kazuki having fun with his friends after Kokutai - I love how they're all squished in a tiny table!

Also, a beautiful Note post from a fan - DeepL translation

Kazuki Tomono plays music from his fingertips to his toes

I was able to "reunite" with him for the first time in about a month.
At the All-Japan Figure Skating Championships that I watched on TV at the end of last year
I was moved by Kazuki Tomono's "Halston" which gave me a heart-shaking impression.

National sporting event
Actually, I couldn't watch the streaming in real time due to my work schedule.
I was eager to watch it as soon as possible.
I finally found the video while I was at work.
But, I watched it without sound because of the environment.

However,
this is the thing.

Even if you don't hear the sound.
You hear the sound.

Kazuki Tomono, the skater
From the tips of his fingers
From his toes
From his expression

His dance with such care and tenderness.
His appearance was exquisitely elegant and beautiful
It touched my heart deeply.

Not a colored venue like the All-Japan.
It was just a rink with a pure white image.
There were probably not many cameras in the rink.
The sound environment is not like All-Japan either.
Everything is simple.

In such an environment
for better or worse, the true power is discernible.

For example.
Singing with a microphone with a lot of echo and
and singing with a microphone with no options at all
It's obvious that there's a difference.
You can't fake it.

But
Kazuki Tomono's glamour has not faded at all
On the contrary
The simpler it gets, the more beautiful and delicate his skating
And the more powerful he is, the more it stands out.

According to what I heard
He was not in perfect condition prior to this tournament due to a health problem.

Kazuki Tomono's world view made us forget about such things.
Kazuki Tomono charmed us to the fullest.
And one more thing
Kazuki Tomono's "Halston" on the ice is a living creature.

Not aided by sound.
I can be moved by so much expression.

Of course, the audio version I saw later, the national winter sports "Halston," was also exceptional.

Again,
I knew it.
Kazuki Tomono is a unique skater.
I am convinced.

Figure Skater Kazuki Tomono
To more and more people, to the world,
I want them to know about Kazuki Tomono.
If you don't know him, you're missing out.
He is a gem of a talent, I can say that with certainty.

Let's see.
What will he show us next?
Let's look forward to a world that plays sound from inside the body.

Oops.
I forgot to mention.
Kazuki Tomono,
Congratulations on your victory.

Thank you again for the inspiration!

Oh, Kazuki. 😊 I think he was going for a silly look for the photo. He tends to stick out his tongue a lot doesn’t he? Looks like it was a lot of fun. Well said in the letter from a fan.

A message from Kazuki :love2:

I also want to share this article about Kassouya: https://gendai.media/articles/-/123983
I recommend everyone reading it, because the concept of the show is super interesting. But, in particular, I want to highlight this line: The two groups were divided into two, one led by Daisuke Takahashi and the other by Kazuki Tomono, who taught the skaters the finer points of the moves as they practiced.
Remember in a previous interview, Daisuke mentioned Kazuki as one of the people who could potentially direct a future 'Kassouya' show. Now, we know for sure that Kazuki has already taken a position of leadership within the Kassouya cast, being responsible to teach the choreography to a whole group of skaters.
The level of trust that Daisuke has in him is incredible 😭❤️

I hope that he can also teach it, but he does have a high level of performance, an ability of engaging the public, which Daisuke Takahashi has and probably sees in Kazuki Tomono? Figure skating is really, really difficult. Elements and transitions are, and atop of this, skaters must gather them and make them a coherent piece of entertainment and/or art, and if they can, captivate the attention of the public, which may not be automatically as high as one would believe.

There's also a new article on Nikkan Premium, it's a paid article 😮‍💨

[Words of Kazuki Tomono] “I was waiting for this time” Two years before the Olympics, the reason why I was not selected for the national team / National Winter Sports Festival

Kazuki Tomono (25, Uenoshiba Skating Club, Osaka, Japan) made a great comeback from 6th place in SP to win the team title. He scored 184.14 points in the free skate, for a total of 252.63 points, and led the team to the team championship with Nobunari Oda, who came in third. At the All-Japan Championships at the end of last year, he was 6th with a total of 271.52 points, which would have been equivalent to 2nd place the previous year. It will be exactly two years until the Cortina d'Ambezzo Olympics in Milan, Italy, in February 2026. I am trying to look positively to the time that I have gained from missing out on the national team..

Yes, I remember Daisuke praising Kazuki in his presence on tv for his ability to entertain and engage the audience, making Kazuki beam from ear to ear and rendering him almost speechless. It was very endearing 🥰. (I think this was around 2016 or 2017 - I can't find the clip at the moment.)

Here's a photo of Kazuki performing "Halston" at today's "Kassouya" dress rehearsal:

It is true. If figure skating was easy everyone who likes it would do it. Everything takes time. Every skater learns at his or her own pace.

I really love the staging of Halston... with the rain, and the skaters with Umbrellas opening and closing the program.

Kassouya gave Kazuki the stage and the audience he deserves, which is more than any other shows and competitions can do for him.

Edited to add: Kazuki joining the Habanera trio today.

I apologise as well for being busy this weekend, it's gonna take a while to catch up with everything 😭

But I want to share some really cool aspects of the show in regards to Kazuki. The first one is what @kwanette already mentioned, Daisuke let Kazuki greet the fans at the end. This once again shows Dai's enormous trust in him.

I saw a fan pointing out that Dai, Kana and Kazuki are the 'three pillars' of the show, with Daisuke being the overall leader, Kana being the leader for the girls, and Kazuki for the boys.
