Kazuki Tomono

Well since we have some time before Hyeon should we guess what character Kazuki will play? He could be a support good guy or the main villain or a support bad guy. The hero obviously seems to be Daisuke since he is the head of the show. My first guess will be main villain because it would be interesting seeing him be a different kind of character. Second guess will be support good guy.

I don't know much about the story, but it would be cool to see Kazuki playing a villain!

Meanwhile, some updates from yesterday:

The Jazz Machine with the 'Lamborghini engine' Kao Miura:

This picture was from SOI Osaka, but here's a picture of today's performance in Yokohama: https://mainichi.jp/graphs/20240405/mpj/00m/050/035000f/20240405mpj00m050031000p

Apparently today he kept his sunglasses on during the whole performance, apart from the jumps 🙀

Meanwhile, another event for Kazuki's busy agenda!

I have conflicted feelings about this event... On one hand, it's really cool, Kazuki is very good with kids and it'll be nice for him to interact with speed skaters. On the other hand, it feels a bit jarring to me that JSF is using his charisma for promo/outreach events as a 'member of the Japanese figure skating team' when they have been tanking his scores and deliberately excluding him from said team... 😬

Onto more pleasant things. There was a big article on Daisuke and Hyoen published today, and this part is relevant to us: https://gendai.media/articles/-/127175?page=4

'Kazuki can do more things than I can, and I think he is suited to acting. I don't know at what stage they both (Kazuki and Koshiro) caught Yakon-san's eye, but it will be the first time they have lines on the ice and they will be doing something completely different from what they normally do, so I think it will definitely benefit them in the future'

Very interesting to know it was the director himself who chose Kazuki and Koshiro, and they will have lines too!

The Jazz Machine with the 'Lamborghini engine' Kao Miura:

Of course Kao Miura belongs to Lamborghini: the Lamborghini emblem is a Miura bull, and I think the Miura was one of Lamborghini's first models:
(It's a joke and I know that Miura is a rather frequent name in Japan, but still, I couldn't resist!)

I think there’s only one prominent “villain”, a school bully named "Zanelli", in the original novel (the characters are apparently given different names in the Hyoen adaptation). I have a feeling that Kazuki won’t be playing him, but possibly one of the characters the two leads, Kakeru and Tokio (originally Giovanni and Campanella) played by Daisuke and Ryunosuke Onoda, meet later on during their journey? I’m not very familiar with the story yet either, but am planning to watch the anime from 1985 this weekend. Since the plot and characters may be altered to some degree in the Hyoen adaptation, it’s probably gonna be difficult to guess who might play who though (apart from the two main characters).

I could see Kazuki Tomono playing creditably some mad scientist or some machiavelic villain, among others, but I wouldn't imagine him playing a school bully? Of course he could surprise us!

I agree, a school bully doesn't fit his profile, especially considering he was bullied at school himself (he revealed this in one of the past non-no articles) 😢 So it could be potentially triggering for him. I know that Koza 'didn't fit his profile either', and he was a bit antagonistic, but he wasn't actually a villain, just a guy who cared deeply about his hometown. Still, Kazuki said it was difficult to portray anger without being overwhelmed by his own emotions...

Thank you for this info! It makes sense, I didn't know that at all and just assumed it was because of Kao's speed on the ice 😆

Some more pictures from yesterday:

The media gallery also have some really cool pics of Jazz Machine:

It seems that this morning at SOI, Kazuki performed 'Underground' 🚆

Now for some non-SOI news:

FS Life magazine extra edition about costumes has Kazuki, Koshiro and Sota in the back cover, and the feature is a 'roundtable' with the three of them about costumes:

Also, remember that his HD Flowers event sold out in 2 minutes? They announced that, due to popular demand, a few more extra tickets will be sold:

Today was the last day of SOI, and Kazuki once again performed Jazz Machine 🔥

Some updates from today:

There was actually an article about Jazz on the news today, although the report is about his performance on Friday: https://the-ans.jp/news/407475/
Kazuki Tomono captivates with a bombastic number, with Kao Miura as the engine, and gets cheers for his impressive speed [Stars on Ice].

Oh dear. Which Nonno article was it? Did it happen when he was a kid or when he was at university? Did he just mention it briefly? I know the feeling. I was too.

Sorry I don't remember exactly, but it wasn't too long ago. Basically, it was in one of those 'counselling room' bits, someone wrote asking how to deal with bullying, and he said he sympathised because he suffered bullying too when he was younger. He then advised the person to cut contact with the bullies completely (wise advice).

Some updates from the last day of SOI:

Today is Kazuki's Mainichi online event:

I hope we get some reports about it, I'm really curious about his plans for the summer, we know he'll be doing shows in June (Hyoen and FaOI) but he's not currently on the cast for DOI or The Ice... Honestly, I don't mind it too much, it's their loss and it's good because it means he will have time to train and prepare for the season. On the other hand, that means we will have to wait longer to see his new programmes 😭

Yesterday was Kazuki's Mainichi online event, and Kurasawa-san and Haga-san posted these pics just before the event:

From the reports, it seems it was a fantastic event 🥹 Full of interesting stories, lots of info and insight into Kazuki's thoughts. It seems that Kenji Ikai-san (photographer) showed some pictures, and Kazuki showed his own skates... Once again, I'm so jealous of Japanese fans who can listen to Kazuki directly like that.

Kurasawa-san also posted that after the event they went drinking until quite late lol but he promised a full report later. Let's wait and see!

Cute post from journalist Hitoshi Kurasawa after the Mainichi online event:

Thank you to everyone who took part in Kazuki Tomono's online event!
Above all, we would like to thank Tomono for agreeing to appear on the day after SOI.

We were helped by the reactions and comments of those who participated in real time. We also received a lot of questions in advance, and some of them even gave us words of encouragement, which filled our hearts.
The archive will be available and we hope you enjoy it again.
More to come in the #Honest, Smiling and Happy column!
Thank you for your continued support.

This is unrelated but also cute - it seems that HD Flowers sent a Sakai tourist booklet alongside the tickets for Kazuki's event on Sunday 🥹
