A recent interview Sofia stated she has an ankle injury, but plans to be on the JGP.

Well I definitely didnt expect her to miss the JGP or anything. And in hindsight an ankle injury does make sense but that was far off my best guess specifically.

She even didnt get 2 assigments. But i am glad...russians should be out til they are in Ukraine!
Malade is so much used, ecpeccially by russians and it is so 80s in bad way

Nice and fair, top 3 each got 1 spot in both disciplines. Looking forward to see them all skate.

It’s a good idea, giving her the middle assignment will see if she’s healthy enough to do ultra c (it doesn’t look like she’s on track to do them by September so she really doesn’t have a good shot of the final as her components are kinda mid -26 in the short and 55 in the free I think so they’re below avg for internationals)
My thoughts exactly, I've noticed that a number of fans are not happy about Samo getting one assignment yet the circumstances that she has along with the results from JGP last season are beyond of her control. She should focus on improving herself the best of her ability to get more spots next season and more importantly that she should prepare herself to increase her chances to get an Olympic spot for Kazakhstan.
Are Yekaterina Balyuba and Ekaterina Baljuba the same person? I'm kind of assuming they are and it's just a difference in how the name has been translated. If so, I imagine she might be a bit disappointed given that she had two JGP spots and went to Junior Worlds last year - but the others had outperformed her in this competition and it is fair that the selection is based on current performance. Hopefully she will get other opportunities this season.
Sofia Farofonova has mainly competed as a senior the past couple of seasons, including competing at Four Continents both years, so I am a little bit surprised she hasn't decided to move up to seniors completely.

I think they compete both junior and senior for as long as they can, which make sense since they don't qualify for Sr. Worlds
This will be quite an active thread this season. Amazing what the addition of one person can do. Imagine if more of them started doing this.
I think Samodelkina and her team are sensible in how they are going about this. Did enough to make the national team and not totally embarrass anyone (not that Samodelkina could I think she has been taking it easy while in limbo since March 2023 not knowing if she had a future career). Plushenko has made sure she has been able to maintain the jumps, and then will build the rest over the next 18 months until the Olympics. She will be at Junior World's and one of World's or Four Continents. I think she can be stable by that stage of the season. This season is all about hitting peak after the new year.

It's adding to already existing foundation, because Kazakhstan had outstanding individual skaters and currently has a strong enough field in both individual disciplines for national competition there to be interesting. The pool here looked stronger than Georgian for top 4 skaters in women and men. We'll see how it goes. They do need pairs and ID to be a complete team package.

I will be travelling as a coach for her first competition, as I am her personal coach in Astana.
I hope she continues to recover from her back injury and brings the spins back. Unfortunately, not so for Krivosheev, but good luck to him in the free skate.It is a tremendous result. At this stage of the season, her jumps are better than the gold and silver medallists of the senior world championship last season. All jumps rotated, just that step out on the flip. They were looking to ding her for everything too, so she really did rotate all those landings otherwise they would have punished it for her. They were really stingy with their GOE on the jumps though (one medallist from world's almost comes to a stop and bends over almost 90 degrees when attempting a jump yet gets higher GOE than Sofia 
). Arms above the head, little loss of speed, the double axel covered a huge amount of ice, completely rotated. I thought she had some of the best jumps (other girls had such tiny jumps, worse landings, but more GOE 
), PCS should have been higher she has great skating skills and there was an idea behind her programs and a commitment to it, step sequences and spins need work. Any skater would rather be strong with jumps because the rest can be worked out.
Out of all the skaters in that event, she can be most optimistic. She's the one who grew from child to adult and maintained these jumps and combos. The rest of them ahead of her don't know if they will be able to maintain 3-3 combos (I suspect they will struggle like most Korean and Japanese). She can do a 3A in training. Incredible athlete. She's only been training at a level required for competition for a couple of months.
If she gets the tech minimum at the Denis Ten event, she can take part in Four Continents or World's if selected?

Yes if she gets tech minimums at Denis Ten she can go to 4CC and worlds. I hope she does because I want to see her in Boston.It is a tremendous result. I really hope she has a successful Denis Ten, because this determines 4CC entry. But the limit is her health at this point because in an adult competition her spins will be more of a problem than in juniors, and if she makes more mistakes on jumps, it might be an early end of the season for her. It's unfortunate that Ten is so close.
