JGP assignments for 2024/2025?

Yeah, we ended up with a full 14 spots in dance. And 3 extra spots for the men.
Life is certainly better with these news, especially dance...it looks like Canada may have three top six contenders, or at least top ten...

Argh, Russian media is doing another disinformation campaign calling all famous old Russian officials, framing these quotas as if they mean that Russian juniors will compete, even though Russian and Belorussian quotas are clearly marked as subject to lifting the prohibitions. They are even HIGHLIGHTED for the idiots to see it clearer. I am just disgusted that Russian FS greats are not stating clearly that these quotas mean NOTHING and that ISU obviously decided that the restrictions are whole-sale, not part-and-parcel, breaking juniors and seniors into two different categories. So, they are all talking how Russian Jrs will compete, only to turn around come August and wail that the ISU tricked them again or whatever. They got my mom. She was so excited, and I told her outright that they send quotes every year, restrictions or not, it's just protocol I saw it mentioned in Lakernik's (or similar top official) interview. If I, basically some idiot fan know it, the pundits like Rodnina or Averbuckh should know that too and not create false expectations. Russian kids will not compete, so no need to create false excitement. I am so pissed rn about them deceiving my mom with their dumb strategies and disinformation.

2 assignments for Brandenburg! Yay!

The South Korean skaters being sent to the JGP was decided by their domestic JGP selection competition, held this past weekend. If the selection criteria remains the same as past seasons:

Women: Jia Shin, Yuseong Kim, Yujae Kim, Nayeon Ko, and Jeongyoul Hwang will all be assigned 2 JGPS. Harin Jang, Hyorin Lee, Seojin Youn, and Nayoung Yu will be assigned 1 JGP.
Men: Minkyu Seo, Jaekeun Lee, and Habin Choi will all be assigned 2 JGPs.
Not officially sure about dance, but I am assuming both teams Breau/Lee and Yoo/Grant will receive 2 assignments if all works out. Maybe the remaining spot can go to Jinny and her new partner Nicholas Ying?

Apologies if I’ve missed this elsewhere - do we know why minsol was not invited to the comp?

I hope she is okay. Surely KSU understand they have a little star in the making with Minsol. her skating for her age is wonderful and she is one of the brightest and most appealing and charismatic juniors (and me, I think there are quite a number of appealing girls there! the coming generation is more encouraging than the present seniors for me)

I'm going to miss Minsol this season. Is it normal for a Korean skater to switch countries? I don't think I've ever heard of that in singles, but with the many talented women in Korea, I am wondering. In any other country (except Japan and Russia), Minsol would probably be their #1 junior. I doubt she's considering switching, but I'm curious. I hope she's well.

Some skaters do, such as two former US junior national champions Soho Lee and Clare Seo. But in their cases they actually moved from Korea to the States, so it wasn't just simply a federation change. None of this has been heard from Minsol and I would be pretty doubtful that she would switch. More likely has something to do with her taking time off, but I don't want to assume anything until her or her family publicizes her reason. Really hope to see her back soon as long as she's ready, she'll be missed😢

*me, thinking how to un-ditch my Riga plans after ditching them*
Now, seeing Canada entries I want to go :(
The only hope is that Gdańsk will have entries I'd love to see.

When I started to search YT videos from Korean selection competition, my heart dropped not seeing Minsol. She made my past two seasons going at JGP competitions brighter and joyful, not event mentioning last year in Gdańsk when she & her mom approached me to thank me for flower crowns...Whatever happens, I hope Minsol is healthy and will compete again.
