2024 JGP Solidarity Cup Pairs SP

Does Mlle. Carpenter have Japanese heritage? Saya is a very Japanese name and it wouldn't be out of place in the Japanese regionals entry lists among the girls

That was a really good skate for them. Much better than I expected from them.
They are coached by Yuka Sato & Garrett Lucash.

I have no idea how an Ignacio gets Jon as a nickname, care to enlighten me?
I think at some time he Americanized his name skating as a solo man and it stuck.
Nice to see that he has gone back to his full name.
I do not know about her name being Japanese, but it makes sense.

I really like Nikola's dress. I am a sucker for pretty red dress.

Augh, this cover of "Take Me To Church" is incredibly annoying...

I just want to pray to the skating gods that nobody uses that again

Don't know who this girl is that is looking to "Take Me To Church". But, I don't like this version of the song. Everything that I loved about Hozier's original has been ruined.

Plus, I am sure I am not the only one that sees Papadakis / Cizeron every time they hear this song (whether it is in a skating context or not!)

But, they weren't so bad.

They go into 14th position.

And that's a wrap. Time for food!

Sorry I've not been saying much - have been trying to watch and do some work admin type things at the same time (on two different laptops). I think I need to watch the last two groups properly later.

My thoughts exactly, the original version is one of my favorite songs and hearing it being treated like that is just wrong on so many levels...

Reading her bio her parents are Mark and Kuniko, so you are probably right.

The Jon came from Junior because hes Ignacio Maravilla Jr. -- but yeah, can't understand the Filipino sense of names but he's been called Jon since he was small. He and Luke Wang competed when they were kids as Luke was from southern MD.
