Sofia Samodelkina

Excited about the possibilty... though after problematic season it's uncertain if she will be able to return to the previous form...
I think its likely she could get back to a high level. Her growth spurt gave her lots of troubles but maybe she just needed time to get used to her new physique. Shes really not anomalously big or tall - hopefully she has adapted by now.

If this season goes poorly for her though then shes most likely finished.

Looks like Sofia is getting back her 3A. Will she participate to the European championship in a few months?

Unlikely. The earliest Rus Fed is even willing to consider her release request is in December and the last competition counting for Euros TES minimums is Latvia Trophy (December 8-10).

You’re right. It should be the Four Continents championships which are more competitive than the Euros. And in theory she has more time to earn the TES minimums (until Jan 09 I think)
Shouldn't she compete at Four Continents, if she represents Kazakhstan? Euros is not a possibility.
Yes, you're right, I just answered the question about Euros without thinking about it.

But, the last competition for minimums remains the same, as there are no international competitions between December 11th and January 18 apart from Europeans.

I am so happy! I assume DTM is a given, but I hope to see her assigned to more competitions this season, and fingers crossed she is successful, though of course her competition in 4CC is steep! But if she can manage a GP slot in the following season, wub!

Sofia Samodelkina - in an interview with RT.

My departure from the Plushenko Academy is a decision of the Astana Figure Skating Federation. They decided that it would be better for my career.

I will keep the short program, but we have changed the free program. The first show is planned in Ankara at the Junior Grand Prix stage.

Of the competitions that have already been decided for sure, my performance in Turkey and the Denis Ten Memorial. Immediately after that, I will fly to the USA to see Rafael Arutyunyan. This is entirely the initiative of the federation. My job is to implement the decisions. Naturally, I am internally asking myself a lot of questions about what this work will be like, how many different issues will be resolved, and so on, but in reality I can't wait for the moment when I will be at Arutyunyan's rink.

My leg hardly hurts, but I try not to overexert it. I am still doing the same jump set, but I really want to get back to more complex jumps. I am slowly regaining my competition weight. The scales have been thrown out of the house.

I have been working very hard to develop the right attitude to the problem, not to weigh myself three times a day, winding myself up. So I was advised to put the scales out of sight and not weigh myself for at least a week. I tried and was very surprised to find that the weight was slowly starting to go away.

My parents initially paid for training at the Plushenko Academy, then Kazakhstan took on all the expenses.

Congratulations for her fourth place finish.

Is there any chance, Sofia is getting a second JGP spot? I mean let‘s dream, if she wins a Gold 🥇 then she gets a ticket for the GPF.

I am so happy for Sofia to get her required scores to compete at both 4CC and Worlds at Denis Ten! I just hope she can relax physically and mentally, and it sure looks like a back injury impacting her spins, so hopefully she can figure it out and learn how to do level 4 spins without the strain on her back. Congrats, Sofia, you are on the right track.
