As @throw_triple_flip says, it is very much so a case-by-case scenario. In addition, if I understand correctly, the police are allegedly involved with this case, so SafeSport does not have to conduct an investigation themselves and thus can immediately issue a suspension. In the case of Nikolaj Sorensen, it was Canada's governing body who suspended him and they had to conduct their own investigation, and could only suspend him after the conclusion of said investigation.

I am getting to the point where I really think that the ISU needs to set up a basic code of conduct to insure that everyone is safe in the sport because these announcements are becoming far too common for my comfort.

This case is a criminal investigation, so safesport doesn’t have to do anything and can auto suspend. Sorensen was internal.

Flores can't catch a break. My goodness. I'll be so disappointed in Desyatov if this is true. How do you let someone pick you, crowdfund your release, and promote you with her following? AFTER having an embarrassing, public end to her previous partnership? You were just going to ride on her coattails knowing the truth of what you did could affect her? The (alleged) audacity of it all...

Yes, technically speaking if US immigration (uscis) thinks they got married to get Ivan a green card vs. being in love (which he'd only been in the US like 6 months...) they would investigate and if they determine someone got married for a green card vs. being in love the happy couple could get charged with felony fraud.

If the police is involved I now understand why this is different than the Chen or the Sorensen case from what I know. Pfffft ...

I need to mourn a little bit and try to check more closely other dancers with no luggage. Any ideas ?
