2024 Skate Canada: General Info and Pre-game chat

and in Canada, we are only changing next weekend... and in Quebec, it may our last time changing ...

Wow, permanent Daylight Time or permanent Standard Time? I really disliked Daylight Time when I was working, I would much rather drive home in the dark than drive to work in the dark.

Arizona does not observe DST. I would like permanent Standard Time here in PA, but I fear I am a minority.

they are not sure... there is a public consultation about it... Standard seems to be "healthier" but I prefer later sunsets ;) just works better for my lifestyle.

The minimum score for Pairs from the ISU is 132.93 😑

Even if it isn't required, I think there could have been a team that met it. It's not an unrealistic score.
It's my understanding that for host picks this isn't necessary.

I was jealous when I read 4everchan's comments that you might not have to change the clocks anymore. There was a big discussion about it in the US, but then it never went anywhere. I think if it had passed though, it would have been permanent daylight savings time, i.e. more daylight in the evenings. If I'm wrong on that, someone please correct me.

I really wish we'd stop changing the clocks, but I definitely want to keep it on the "daylight savings time" because I really like having light in the evenings, especially to spend more time outside. That is my strong preference and was even when I commuted to work (I work from home now). Driving to work in the dark didn't really bother me. It sort of helped me wake up a bit more gently. LOL Sorry elhenry, it sounds like we're on opposite sides of this "argument."

Is it just me or it's really happening - no gala scheduled for this evening :scratch2:. I was concerned since there's no tile for exhibition program on Peacock then I looked at the color code schedule and there's not one on it either :(. What gives?

one of the reasons why canada doesn't want to change is because they want to keep aligned with the USA time zones... sigh... but at this point, Saskatchewan (for decades) has opted not to change... and Quebec is thinking hard about it... If Quebec does it, I wonder what Ontario will do... because right now, Toronto, Ottawa and Montreal (and Quebec city) are all in the same timezone

In Maine, there have been debates about going to Atlantic time.

If they do, the TV networks may not go along, like they don't in Canada for Newfoundland. Then you'd get special announcements like "9 pm local, an hour later in Maine.".

It's not happening anytime soon. From what I remember, the change would only happen if a bunch of other states in New England joined us.
