53rd Volvo Open Cup | Oct 31 - Nov 3

Dr. Valtter VIRTANEN (FIN) must have been out on an emergency call, because he has arrived a bit late for the all black costume party.

Really enjoyed that programme. Didn't know the song, "Lay My Body Down (Orchestra Version)" by Rag'n'Bone Man, but it was perfect for skating to. And Valtter skated it well!

Alina MAYER (DEU) sitting with him. Go on, Valtter! Give your wife a kiss! 😗

He goes into 3rd position. Just 0.50 behind Nikita STAROSTIN (DEU)

I don't think he's happy with his score, because he got up and left straight away, leaving Alina behind.

Joshua ROLS (FRA) looks like he just wandered in off the street in his white sweatshirt and black trousers.

The music was definitely more dramatic than the costume.

Hey, there is a clip of Joshua getting his scores at the 28th edition of the Volvo Open Cup back in November 2015 in a compilation video that is being shown on the stream during the resurfacings. Suffice to say, he looks rather different!

He goes into 7th position today.

Kai JAGODA (DEU) is an even later arrival than Valtter to the all black costume party.

Oh, sorry. He's got patterns of blue sparklies on it.

I always love this music being skated to. And he made a good job of it.

He goes into 7th position.

Jari Krestyannikov, explanation to Russian sounding surname: He is born in Russia but lived in Finland since childhood. I have seen slso version Yaroslav of his first name but looks he prefers to use that Finnish version.

I don't know what happened, but I think my stream jumped back and showed Kai Jagoda again.

I'll wind back and watch Samy HAMMI (FRA) during the next resurfacing.

Boys but I am glad I realised and went back LIVE in time for Georgii RESHTENKO (CZE). He was skating to "Parisienne Walkways" by my fellow Ulsterman, Gary Moore.

I know I am biased, but Gary Moore music makes great figure skating programmes. And this programme was no exception. I absolutely loved it!!!

I wonder if that is Georgii's Mum sitting with him.

He goes into 7th position.

Erm, how many pieces of music were playing at the same time in Daniel MARTYNOV (USA)'s programme?!

That was really hard to listen to. Whoever thought of doing that should be given a kick up the backside. What were they thinking of?!

The pieces were good enough individually. But together? No!

Moving on, and it was an intersting costume. Black trousers and white shirt, with a jacket that was mainley grey but with black and white trim.

He goes into 12th position, and shrugs his shoulders.

You may well shrug your shoulders!

A re-think on that programme is badly needed.

Jari. Great blue shirt. Good program. A couple of mistakes but still a decent skate.

What a beautiful programme from Jari KRESTYANNIKOV (FIN)!

He was wearing black trousers, and a sky blue shirt with a green collar (it's not as bad looking as it sounds!)

He was skating to "Photograph" by Cody Fry.

And everything about it was beautiful.

Ach, he's sitting on his own. Hang on, the next skater, Matias LINDFORS (FIN), is also coached by Alina Mayer. So, that's why.

Couldn't Alina have asked her hubby to sit with him? (By the way, Valtter is still in 3rd position).

Jari goes into 14th position.

I don't know about Jari, but I'm disappointed in that score! I thought he was better than last position!
