The camera in the results area was really struggling for the last few skaters in the Junior Men, with the picture breaking up. And then it gave up the ghost completely for the first of the Advanced Novice Ladies, giving us a black screen.

I hope they can get it working properly again quickly.

It's struggling again for the second girl. But at least we are getting a picture again, albeit breaking up.

Hang on, I just noticed that this is Skater #6. Given that only 2 girls have skated before her, there must have been a lot of withdrawals.

You know, now that I think of it, I did think that I saw Olivia in her Team Cyprus jacket during the Warm-Up. But then I dismissed it, thinking that it must have been another girl wearing a similar white jacket.

In short, I think this is down to being a one group competition.

Oh, it's a pity that the livescoring page isn't working at the moment. That would confirm what is going on.

Mmmm. Maybe my latest assessment was wrong. The last skater that was due to skate in Group 1 has now skated, and it looks like we are now having a break.

No sign of a Zamboni, though.

I'm going back to the Junior Ladies until something happens.

EDIT: Curiosity got the better of me. So after I finished catching up on the Junior Ladies, I wound back the stream to check who actually skated in Group 1, and who didn't.

  • Skaters #1, #2, and #3 were missing
  • Skaters #4, #5, #6 and #7 were here

Spotted Olivia straight away. She's wearing her white jacket over a black dress and black tights / stockings.

Awww, and she even came up close to the camera.

With 1 minute left, we saw her doing a lovely jump at the end of the rink. But then somebody else blocked the view, so we didn't see if it was a combination.

A while later, she was doing a spin, but only half of her was within camera shot. It was strange to watch.

When they were told to leave the ice. Olivia made the most of her time to circle round while the others were sorting themselves out, and then was the last to leave the ice.

Well, everybody that was due to skate so far has been present and correct. And it is now time for my youngest "kid" to make her season's debut.

There's her Mum. And coach Jelena MUHHINA (the Estonian Junior Ladies Champion for the 2001-02 Season). Don't recognise the wee girl holding the bag.

Oliviia doesn't look at all happy.

Into the lead. But she still looks upset.

Seems that this wee girl is a perfectionist. She mightn't think it, but I thought she was great!

Oh no. The last skater started crying when she came off.

At least her (young and pretty) coach is consoling her.

She goes into 5th position.

Which means that Oliviia has won the SP.

We stay with the girls, but move from the Advanced Novices to the Intermediate Novices. 14 of them.

Skater #3 is without doubt the happiest skater I have seen all week!!!

She hasn't stopped smiling and laughing and chatting since she came off the ice.

But then her scores were announced. And her face just dropped.

She goes into 3rd position.

And this my friends is why Novice level and the way it is divided up is confusing. Because we have just gone from a skater who looks very young (Skater #3), to a skater who looks like she is old enough for Senior level never mind Junior level (Skater #4)!

My goodness! Skater #8 is wearing a dress that shows a serious amount of cleavage!

Just because you are older and physically more mature than most of the skaters you are up against, it doesn't mean you have to flaunt it.

Mind you, she's gone into 2nd position, so she's doing something right!
