It's time to kick off the 2024 Tallinn Trophy!!!

Federico BERRUTO (ITA) kicking off the event.

He is wearing what looks like matching blue shirt and trousers that have been covered in patches of brown mud.

Fell on his first jump.

But no deduction.

Lev Leo GOLUB (EST) is wearing all black - shirt, waistcoat, gloves, trousers, boots, everything!

Don't know the music, but it wasn't my taste.

And he fell on his first jump too! But again no deduction.

He goes into 2nd position.

The last of the international skaters, Tomas STRAZDS (LAT), was skating to "The March Of The Toreadors", from "Carmen"

And he was dressed as a toreador, wearing a red blazer with gold trim, and black trousers with a gold stripe down each leg.

He didn't fall.

But he goes into 2nd position.

Ilya NESTEROV (EST) was skating to Prokofiev's "Romeo And Juliette".

And he is wearing a costume that is in the colours of the Estonian flag! The top is pale blue, black and white, while the tousers and gloves are black. Very clever!

Definitely the best so far.

Rasmus KAJALAID (EST) is a fellow blonde-haired glasses wearer!

I think I remember seeing him before.

He is wearing a jumpsuit which is green around the shoulders, then blue for most of the top half, anbd then black for the bottom half.

Loved the music!

Unfortunately, he wasn't eating his greens. Everything was red or blue.

Awww. He's got a matching doll of himself!

He goes into 4th position.

Markus Amal SAAR (EST) is also dressed as a torreador, but he is skating to different music. His suit is black, with a white shirt underneath. And a red belt.

He had a fall. And everything apart from the Step Sequence was red.

He goes into 3rd position.

Last boy, Irakli SAMHARADZE (EST) is wearing a costume that is 3 quarters black, but the left hand side of the top half is blue.

He had a fall on his first jump, and the combination jump he did next was rough enough. But the rest was all green.

He goes into 2nd position.

Day 2 starting now with the youngest of the boys completing their campaign!

The camera we started on today is positioned at the end of the officials. And before proceedings began, it panned around the arena.

There was not a single person in the stands!

Admittedly, we didn't see the stand behind us, so there might have been spectators watching from behind the officials. But even so.

Makes me feel even more guilty for not going. These skaters deserve to have an audience.

We start the day with some Rick-Rolling!

Well, that woke everybody up!

Lev Leo GOLUB (EST) was wearing black trousers, blue gloves, and a shirt that was various shades of green and blue. It was wild looking!

Unfortunately for Lev, the shirt was the only green he had. There were two blue boxes, but the rest were red.

He and his coach were chatting away nearly the whole time they were sitting there. He seems happy enough.

Rasmus KAJALAID (EST) is wearing a blue and turquoise top, with blue gloves and black trousers.

Beautiful piano music.

First jump went badly wrong. The wildest pop I've ever seen.

No, his jumps just aren't with him today. All of them seem to be going wrong one way or another. Including a fall.

It's a shame, because I feel an affinity with him. Because I wear glasses myself, I always like to see skaters that wear glasses doing well.

Ah, he's got a doll to match this programe too! But his coach is holding it today.

He goes into the lead in both the FS and overall.

Markus Amal SAAR (EST) is wearing a jumpsuit where most of the top half is red, and the bottom half and some of the top half is black.

I love the music he is skating to. The vocals are in French, but it reminds me so much of "My Nocturnal Serenade". To the extent that I would put money on it being the same band.

The first international skater of the day, Tomas STRAZDS (LAT), was skating to music that I have seen skated to by one of the elite skaters. And it is annoying me that I can't remember who, because I want to look up what the music is!

He was good.

Federico BERRUTO (ITA) is skating to what sounds like spy music, but he would be very conspicuous in what he is wearing! A maroon jacket and cream trousers with black pinstripes.

Ah, I've called it completely wrong! The first piece of music was followed by "Pure Imagination" and "Oompa Loompa Doompa-Dee-Do".

He's not a spy - he's Willy Wonka!

I really enjoyed that!

He too goes into the lead of both FS and overall.

Irakli SAMHARADZE (EST) is wearing a blue top with gold sash pattern on it, and black trousers.

Definitely seen one of the top Men's skaters skating to this music in the past few years. Can't remember who, though.

It's always a risk doing this, as you could appear to be a poor imitation. But he didn't embarrass himself! He was good!

Ilya NESTEROV (EST) closing the competition wearing all black apart from a white collar. And even then there is not much of it is visible!

So far, the FS standings and overall standings have mirrored the SP standings . And I don't see that changing now.

Ilya was really good.

Nekrassova sitting with him. Will she be celebrating her daughter winning a medal in a few hours time?

Well, her students have now won at least one medal today. Ilya wins both the FS and overall.

I did a double take when the national anthem started, and thought "I don't remember there being any Finnish boys".

Then I remembered - sure Estonia uses the same music as their national anthem as Finland!
