It is a lot to ask of these new pairings to be consistent so early in their partnership. I am going to just be satisfied that they are getting the opportunity to compete these skills. Experience really is a great teacher sometimes.

I don't know how it came that Belle became a French surname and not Beau Théo Beau would be fun

as many surnames it probably comes from an ancestor nickname, probably a woman known for this feat...or maybe the ancestor in question was involved in the oldest trade in the world

Rather tired of the Ed Sheeran piece, but the upbeat section towards the end show off their subtle style. Other than a stumble after her solo jump, that was a solid skate. Michel is a very nice male pair skater - nice to see that he is able to skate with a quality partner like Daria.

I have a hard time with Brooke representing another country... I know it's not relevant but considering her sister is one of Canada's top olympic athlete... and her mom also represented Canada at the OGames... it's a bit of a weird feeling for me.

I have different issues with Gabby Izzo's new partnership.. because I wanted her to skate with my Thierry who no longer skates since they split (well he tried briefly with someone else...but yeah)..

So yeah... this event is interesting.

sure but in French, women do not pass down their names. So that's why it's weird.

I like these Challengers because I get to see skaters that don't end up on the Grand Prix, but show up elsewhere.

I think this is the first time seeing my Czech kids this season.

I am ashamed to admit that it is so long since I saw them, that I wouldn't have recognised Barbora if she hadn't been standing beside Martin.

Have to be honest, I don't like the team jackets.

But their costumes are beautiful. They are purply blue with sparklies at the shoulders, and as you go down, they turn into black.

Barbora has what looks like a very plunging neckline down to her belly button. But, it's all illusion mesh.

When they were being focussed on, they did a throw, and Barbora landed it two-footed.

And that's as much as I saw them do.

Looking forward to seeing their programmes.
