2025 U S. Nationals Junior Women's Free Skate

Somebody help me out here. It's the first year I've paid any attention to the US junior competitions. Plus I don't have Peacock and so haven't been able to watch the competitions yet.

In the free skate scores, the junior women medalists far outscored the junior men medalists in technical scores. Yet the women have far lower PCS, which means the junior men come out on top in overall score.
In fact, the top 8 junior men have far higher PCS than TES and the top 8 junior women have far lower PCS than TES.
Are the junior women really that bad in PCS? What am I missing here?

It's the factoring. Junior Men is factored at 3.33 in the free and 1.67 in the short. Junior Women is factored at 2.67 in the free and 1.33 in the short. This is to try to provide a balance between the TES and PCS in the scores since men will usually jump more 3As and quads than women.

Ah okay! I had no idea about factoring. I'll look that up and learn.

Better for Skylar not to win at 12 i'm sure she will be glad to just get on the podium but not have the pressure of being the Junior champion.
She is a treasure. I hope she moves forward without any issues and competes world wide. Then those of you who are younger than me can say, "I saw her at Juniors and she was wonderful then!" Chris who saw Mirai Nagasu in 2007 as a Junior.

And for @aroundtheworld778 and others who hadn't realized, the same is true for seniors.

I really liked Skylar the most!!
Shame she lost due to the four bonus points Sophie earned during the free skate. I thought they only give bonus points if the jumps are fully rotated? The triple triple and 3A were fully rotated? The 4Sq was given a bonus on 1 point. I guess quads are an exception. That one point made the difference between gold and silver.
Also, Skylar didn’t add a 3T as a combo? She didn’t add a 3T to the 3Lz first combo…. Only did a 3Lz 2T and then did a 3T 2T in the second half. If she did the 3T as part of the combo she could have gotten the 1 bonus point that could have put her in first place. It came down to the wire.
Anyways, Sophie earned it. I hope she gets sent to Junior Worlds, for one of the two spots
