if it's still the same rules, the third man would need to qualify for the LP.I understand the top 2 men have to add up to 13 or less to get 3 spots. Can someone tell me what the 3rd man has to do to lock it in?
For Olympic spots, qualify for the free. If they qualify three spots, but someone doesn't make the free, they have to send a skater to the Beijing qualification to confirm the third spot.I understand the top 2 men have to add up to 13 or less to get 3 spots. Can someone tell me what the 3rd man has to do to lock it in?
Scores won't matter. It's a gift.I can't see the argument for Max over Camden. He doesn't get great PCS from international judges and doesn't have any international results to hold off Camden placing ahead of him here. Camden, OTOH, does get the PCS which does matter when both are given to technical disasters.
That's how I remember it, too.if it's still the same rules, the third man would need to qualify for the LP.
You could have the top two men add up to 13 and that would give 3 spots for worlds... but for Olympics, the third man ALSO needs to be in the LP... if not, there is the last chance qualifier
but you know.. they change the rules all the time so i am not sure

for both "my" events. For Olympic spots, qualify for the free. If they qualify three spots, but someone doesn't make the free, they have to send a skater to the Beijing qualification to confirm the third spot.
Super interesting. They don't include the current 4CC as part of the Worlds selection criteria, only the past 4CC. They look at the scores and weighting. Max has an advantage in that his GP score of 216 at Skate America is higher than both of Camden's assignments this season. GP is weighted higher than Challengers, it'll be interesting to see how they work it out since Camden wasn't much higher than Max here.
Yeah, he needs to stop doing that backflip...like we get it, you're strong and talented and have very good technique, but that doesn't mean you have to give us a mini heart attack EVERY. SINGLE. PROGRAM.If he improves maybe he'll reach 400.
(OK, yeah, lose the backflip. Surya Bonaly's was better 40 years ago.))

if it's still the same rules, the third man would need to qualify for the LP.
It's still in the rules for the 2026 qualification document - https://stillmed.olympics.com/media...m/Qualification-System-for-Figure-Skating.pdfBut I agree that I'm not certain that's still the rule.
what happened to the other 1%??Super interesting.
I’m now 33% in favour of Max, 33% in favour of Camden and 33% in favour of Jason Brown![]()
I will never forget him taking away Ilia’s spot. NeverIf Jason can skate to top 5 in the world like last time he deserves to be on the team. I clarified that I would only name him if he can be monitored and proves he has resolved the issues but I’m not even sure how that would work if they have to make the decision now. They’d basically be taking his word for it that he’d be ready because he doesn’t have the body of work this season and I don’t think it works that way.
In the past other countries have waited until after EC/4CC to name the team but 4CC is close to Worlds this year.
It’s a shame too because this may mean the loss of the third spot. And I really hope we aren’t here next year having almost the same stupid argument we did 3 years ago about whether Jason “deserves” to go because it’s “his fault” for losing the spot or maybe it’s everyone else’s “fault” because they couldn’t get it either. And blah blah blah.
OK. Now I’m leaning towards Jason taking the spot. Jason is usually an excellent SP performer. Even with a 35 TES score, his PCS score of 45, puts him above 80.For Olympic spots, qualify for the free. If they qualify three spots, but someone doesn't make the free, they have to send a skater to the Beijing qualification to confirm the third spot.
Can we please not have this conversation all over again? It happened almost three years ago, neither Ilia or Jason had any control over what the US Olympic Selection Committee decided, no matter who went to the Olympics, no one's spot was "taken away", and there is literally no point in speculating "what could have happened" because we have no idea what would have happened.I will never forget him taking away Ilia’s spot. Never![]()
Actually his total score would have won all of those National championships.not france, nor italy... maybe not korea... come on...
If it is a gift, I can see the US federation sending Jason to Worlds because it is at Boston, and he will sell tickets.Scores won't matter. It's a gift.

I'm not putting much stock in US Nationals scoring winning other championships. It's Nationals scoring, it's inflated. And besides, other countries may not be as lenient on calling.Actually his total score would have won all of those National championships.
My comment was meant to solely be a statement. Can we please not have this conversation all over again?
