Madison Hubbell and Gabriella Papadakis have announced their participation as a duet for Art on Ice in Swizterland in February 2025.

They want to break gender stereotypes.

They hope to modernize their sport, making it more inclusive and courageous.

Hubbell says that she hopes that this will help everyone, no matter who they are, to find their place on the ice.

Gabi is a treasure. So well written essay. I hope a change will follow soon as figure skating is so outdated. Often I have a feeling skaters perform like it was their aunt's birthday to a music and clothes chosed by their mums. Then you look at their IG accounts and they seem to be a diffrenent young people with their own style and taste.

Well bringing these idiotic themes from the 50s, 60s 70s, is not helping to promote the personality of 20 and 30 year old dancers.

Thanks for sharing! It is a really well-written piece, with several key points raised in a clear, well-justified manner. Ice dance, and figure skating in general, needs to move on from its antiquated gender roles and binaries.

This has been hyped for a long while. It was fine because they are both good skaters. It was different and some may take some time. At least with Gabi and Madison they couldn't do some things we have seen from other pairs who happen to be traditional and it would be hard to judge or compare if it is a competition. As entertainment it was fine but I was not mesomorized as I expected. Their costumes weren't particularly harmonious with each other. Sad to hear though that Gabi has stopped skating with Guillaume - did I miss something? One would think they would still be in demands for shows being the recent Olympic champions.
