I can only remember a couple of competitions where Melissa was open about her illness or injury. And this is the first time I've seen Jennifer mention illness, and I know she's been bothered by it for quite some time.

The scores did look really low for dance, especially compared to what the scores were like at worlds. I think the fact that not one of the dance teams here are top five in the world may have made it seem like the scores were really low though. If V/M did not withdraw, they'd probably have hit the 100 mark.
There are at least one lift absent from both OD and FD.

I know NOTHING about Jennifer Wester..Obviously, YOU do..However, I know a lot about Melisa Gregory...She has NEVER complained about ANY injury..Even with her broken foot in 2006 (the injury occurred in June)...she went to
Hartford and competed brilliantly..
Besides, Melissa and Denis haven't competed in a year ..Don't all skaters get injured or have illnesses? I think your attack on Melissa and Jennifer was totally uncalled for.

Hmm, I just cannot decide whom I enjoy more, Bates & Samuelson or Davis & White, as they *both* remind me of my all-time favorite ice dance team of Peizerat & Anissina. Lol, obviously Charlie reminds me of Gwendal the most, with Emily as Marina. Luckily for me, as a viewer, I can just sit back & relax & enjoy both dance teams.
And in the meantime, just wait patiently, whether it takes months, or years, or even a decade, for that ONE program to really really enthrall/capture/mesmerize me, like Torville & Dean did with Bolero, or the Duchesnays did with Savage Rites, and last but not least Peizerat & Anissina did with Romeo & Juliet.
I just thank all the ice dancers for keeping me holding on, as I no longer watch Ladies, Mens, or Pairs. Just lost interest is all, though I still watch those other disciplines now & again, like I did at 2008 US Nationals.

sashaisgreat is a huge Matthews/Gislason fan, so his/her digs at Jennifer Wester and Melissa Gregory are based on the fact that W/B and G/P will be competing against M/G at US Nationals.

But there is an interesting question about who gets fourth, because with Linichuk as their coach, and a lot of improving to do, I would think Tanith & Ben aren't going to Four Continents(Though can M&G compete internationally anyway?) And whoever gets their spot gets a spot on the Season's Best list, and Grand Prix invites next year. Of course W&B have their Grand Prix events this year to take care of that, but everyone else at Nationals? Probably really wants that pewter medal.
If being a skating fan for 30 yrs has taught me anything..it's never to write anyone off..
I've never seen M/G but I really liked M/Z...I met both of them in Hartford and they were lovely young people.I was sad when they split up.
As far as G/P are concerned, do we know that they will be at Nats?

Carol - last year at Skate Canada they had a pretty nasty fall in the Free Dance warm up... and while everyone focussed on Melissa's injury, Denis was also pretty banged up and the recovery took longer than they had hoped... they're also dealing with an illness in the family, from what I understand...
Denis is still listed as one of Johnny's choreographers. and I believe they are doing a bit of coaching at their rink (I read something to that affect earlier this summer).
I read on another board that Melissa and Denis had signed up for US Sectionals (to be held next week).
There's nothing to stop Matthews/Gislason from competing at US Sectionals and Nationals, but Leif has to be released by Skate Canada in order for M/G to skate internationally. From what I've read, 'negotiations' are still ongoing.
Gislason last competed internationally for Canada with Lauren Senft at 4CC 2007, which concluded on Feb 10, 2007. Their last medal together was a bronze at a JGP in the fall of 2003. I don't get Canada's reluctance to release Gislason. It isn't as if Canada has a dearth of top dance teams, and Gislason wasn't a sure-fire medalwinner with either of his last two Canadian partners.
