2024-25 Retirements, Splits and New Partnerships

Mmmmm. So two high profile Ice Dancers from Rotherham that have been competing for other countries have now announced splits with their partners... 🤔

Yep. My money is on Lucy HANCOCK / Peter BEAUMONT (GBR) being announced as a partnership in the not too distant future.

And Lucy's embargo would end only a week after Peter's embargo. So, they would be good to go from the start of December.

Please make it happen! :pray:

It would be kind of funny if the two tall-ish Canadian (-adjacent) teams who split swapped partners (though, obviously, we don't know if Brooke and Marty are both continuing, just that Cristina and Marco are).

Cristina is really new to pairs, but such a solid jumper and quite fearless (some of Lyons/Haubrich's lifts were pretty scary this season), so I really hope she can find a new partner.

I imagine Bryan Pierro might fit well with Cristina style wise but I don't know her height.

I don't even know how to put into words how utterly confused and sad I am about this split. A really hard hit for Jr Ice Dance in the near future, in my opinion, and certainly for me personally. They were 14th at Jr Worlds, as one of the youngest teams in their first Jr season, and most of the teams ahead of them are aging out of Juniors after this season... So confused, though I'm sure there are reasons for this split, even if we may never know them.

It's a pity, I thought they had a lot of promise and did great in their first season as juniors. I can't help but wonder what happened in the two weeks following JWC as they were talking about preparation for next season, already had some ideas for the new programs and now this... :cry:

In addition to this split there is one more in Slovak ice dance... Anna Simova/Kirill Aksenov have split as well, apparently in January already. Kirill is looking for a new partner. Anna is taking a break to improve her health. She has some issues with digestive system that the doctors are trying to figure out and a back injury therefore she stopped skating in October, she is not sure if she'll be able to return to figure skating. Another factor was lack of finances where majority of costs for their preparation were paid by her parents or came from sources that her parents were able to secure, so even without the health problems they wouldn't be able to finish the season.

Aw this makes me sad they broke up. I really loved them as juniors - they were sublime in pieces like the red violin and Romeo and Juliet. I want Peter to skate with Emmy Bronsard for Canada - sorry 😆

Oh, no... they really looked like they had a bright future as an ice dance partnership.
 
Ava Aversano Martinez/Christian Bennett (Mexico, Ice Dance) have split. Ava is having surgery, Christian will be continuing.

I checked Canada since that's the one I'm most familiar with.

Savanna Martel/William Oddson and Emma Goodstadt/Christian Bennett have both split (Junior Ice Dance)

Charlie Anderson/Cayden Dawson (Jr Ice Dance) haven't split as far as I know. I think they were put under splits by mistake, the only post in this thread about them is their new team post.

Someone else noticed that Ryan Bedard has an Ice Partner Search profile, so I think we can take the rumors of a Martins/Bedard split to be true.
