I'm tired and can't work out whether 15th is enough for the Dutch for an Olympic spot? I know 16th wouldn't have been because of the Germans.

I think his math is right, I wanted to see someone else do it since I got a headache from staying up too late thinking about spots.

If they are allowed to compete, but also they haven’t competed in this field in a long time and won’t get reputation scores

They already have reputation needed, as former world champions and olympic medalists.

I would have been happy even if Hase/Volodin had won again, but I love Riku and Ryuichi and am happy to see them becoming world champions again! Kind of sad to not hear more from them at the interview... By the way, "sugoi!" means "cool!" in Japanese! *starts squealing again*

Ryuichi has chronic asthma and I don't think Riku speaks quite as much English, so I think they just really wanted to go backstage, catch their breath, and recover - pairs is so physically demanding especially with back-to-back competition days. I wouldn't be surprised if the delay before the medal ceremony is so Ryuichi has a chance to take some oxygen/medicine to avoid an asthma attack like at 4CC a couple years ago.

I think so. 16 qualify. The spots correspond to top 16 - 1 for Germany 2 (not top 16 qualified based on Germany 1) + 1 for Canada 3 (top 16 but Canada only got 2 spots) So I think top 16 qualify.

Yeah, I wouldn't be surprised for that kind of delay for him to go eat something and get his blood sugar up, it was really distressing last year to not see them go on the ice to get their medals at first (they redid the ceremony after the men's ceremony).

Agree it’s disgusting. If H/V were Russian they would have won this. That program was VERY Russian and would have gotten 150 from that country.

So, the Germans will have to skate in Germany to ever win a world title. Got it. What a cruel joke!
