Also, medalists from the JGP final and Junior Worlds are eligible for one senior GP spot if they are age eligible for seniors - so Adam Hagara gets a spot from that, as do Jia Shin and Elyce-Lin Gracey. Holichenko/Darenskyi do if they haven't qualified via SB or WS as seniors. In ice dance, Wolfkostin/Tsarevski and Grimm/Savistskiy are age eligible for seniors and would have 1 Senior GP spot. Tali/Lafornava would be as well if they are age eligible, which I'm not sure about. From the JGP final, Jacob Sanchez would get one senior GP spot, Ami Nakai (if she is becoming age eligible for seniors, which I think she might be?), Zhang/Huang, Flores/Wang (I think they become age eligible for seniors?) and Desrocher/Thrasher. Obviously skaters who are still age-eligible for juniors may decide to stay there instead. (Metelkina/Berulava are missing from my list here because they have already qualified 2 senior GP spots via their placement at senior Worlds).

The 2024-25 announcement says that they'll be included in the selection process, not necessarily guaranteed one. For most of the examples you mentioned, I think they'll get one. For Desrochers/Thrasher, they haven't decided if they'll go Senior internationally yet so they may stay on the JGP again. I think they'll stay Junior.

Ami Nakai and Elyce Lin-Gracey are also fairly high up on the SB 24, so they should be fine for two. Ami is turning 17 this month, so she will be eligible.

My hunch is that Desrochers/Thrasher will do senior competitions domestically, but stay as juniors internationally - and I think that would be a sensible approach. They would get buried at the moment in the senior international field, and wouldn't get as many opportunities as they do as top juniors. A couple of senior B competitions later in the season could be good experience, though. Edit: I would also say the same thing in relation to Flores/Wang, who I think will still be age eligible for juniors.

Also the split couple rule:

Pairs or Ice Dance Couples, who were previously in the top 7 to 12 of an ISU World Figure Skating Championships in the past three seasons (**2023, 2024 or 2025 for this upcoming season) but who split and now have a new partner, may always be chosen as an Organizing ISU Member Skater as per paragraph 2.2. f) and in addition, may be considered as an Organizing ISU Member’s Choice as per paragraph 2.2. g). They will be ranked in the list of Grand Prix Season’s Best scores by taking the season’s points of their partnership with their most recent previous partner, if proof is given in writing by their ISU Member that they intend to continue their competitive career and their return is announced and confirmed by the date of the annual Selection Meeting. Such Pairs/Dance Couples are defined as a “Returning Split Couple” and such Returning Split Couples do not need to fulfill the requirement of a minimum Grand Prix score.

For Fournier-Beaudry/Cizeron, this would use the score of 207.54 that Fournier-Beaudry/Soerensen scored at 2024 4CC.

For women, I fear Yuna Aoki and Sofia Samodelkina might only get one GP. They are just outside SB24. Everyone inside SB24 usually gets two.

The only ones outside the SB50, but with a high WS ranking, are Hendrickx, Ziegler, Kurakova. So they will get a spot (Hendrickx probably two).
Seniuk, Sauter, Mikutina might not get any spots.

Loena Hendrickx will fall outside of the WS24 once the standings are set for the 2025-26 season. Without an SB, she is very unlikely to get a GP spot unless she wins an early Challenger. I think she'll probably prioritize the Beijing Olympic Qualifer over getting a GP spot that way.

You're right. I see that now.

And Ziegler is in the same situation. The only way for a GP spot is to win an early Challenger.

Finland will for sure keep all host spots in women and there is even national competition about those. Maybe Iida Karhunen who is 39th and at highest place of local skaters in women in rankings will get one host spot - she also has highest TES of all Finns, including local senior men. She is age eligible next season and I suppose she is not interested in JGP any more as she has been there so many times. In pairs they will keep one and two are open to others and in ID at least two will kept of own, but there is third senior pair - the male is not a Finn, so no option to make it to Olympics - and if they develop enough, they may get one. Men is total question mark. There would be enough men, but not at very high level - question mark is also if Dr V still continues. But let's see, they are developing. So what for sure Finland gives away from host spots is two pairs, in women no spots to others, one ID spot and all men's spot maybe TBDs when entries will be published. They may also use men's host spot inviting some of our neighbours who do not get one a two spot in other ways.

Edit: correceted a few things

GP Finland again... bummer, as far as I am concerned. That means JSF will skimp on Challengers again, with just Italy and Germany and perhaps North America remaining that they regularly send skaters to.

So Ioulia and Michał will get their own the spot :laugh3:Last season they were stand-ins. I wonder if Vova will manage to get the invitation, he is around 30 place.

Well done! With that in mind I'll try to assign the women.

The SB Top 24 usually gets two spots:
Sakamoto, Liu, C Kim, Glenn, Chiba, Lin-Gracey, Levito, Petrokina, Higuchi, Nakai, Tennell, Sumiyoshi, Everhardt, Yoshida, Pinzarrone, Matsuike, Gubanova, Gutmann, Watanabe, Repond.
20 skaters x 2 = 40 spots.

We also know that the Top 12 from Worlds get two:
Lee, Schizas
2 skaters x 2 = 4 spots - Total 44 spots

I think Hendrickx will get 2 spots as she is a former World medalist - Total 46 spots.

Skaters not in the SB24 but inside the WS 24 typically only gets one spot.
Pezzetta, Schild, Kurakova - Total 49 spots.

Host spots for Finland, China, France, Canada
Obviously, France and Canada shouldn't name Schild and Schizas here.
12 spots - Total 61 spots.

Host spots for USA, Japan
This one is tricky as both federations has 2 host spots to play with. Hopefully they use them wisely...;)
Ziegler? Thorngren? Aoki and/or Takagi? (Japan will then be maxed out)
2-4 spots - Total 63-65 spots.

The rest usually gets assigned to skaters further down the SB list just outside top 24. 7-9 spots to fight for.
(25. Aoki), 28. Samodelkina, 29. Shin, 30. Kaiser, (34. Takagi), 35. Yun, (36. Pezzetta), (39. Schild), 41. Medland Spence, 42. Serna, 46. Thorngren, 48. Shiryaeva, 50. Dupuis, 51. Karhunen 52. Mihara, 54. Seniuk, 55. Sauter, 57. S Kim, (58. Kurakova), 61. Mikutina... These 20 skaters will fight for 7-9 spots. Some might get two.
7-9 spots - Total 72 spots.

We'll see how off I am with these predictions later in June...:ROFLMAO:
