What are you listening to right now?

Bones - Mel Parsons

Meanwhile was waiting in the traffic jam in the highway to vina del mar . Listening some 80s music . An Argentinian band that is even currently are very famous and their songs are amazing and like a soundtrack of conosur or South cone (Argentina, Chile, Uruguay)

Soda Stereo - en el septimo día, by the way Cirque du Soleil made a show with that theme years ago.

That awkward moment when you are watching the celebrations after the Podium Ceremony at the WTT, and you are wondering what language the song being played in the arena is in, and what the lyrics are about.

And then you start picking up the odd word here and there, and realise that it is actually in your own language (English)! 😲 The words are just coming too fast for your brain to process them. :drama: :slink:

Gabry Ponte, Lum!x & Giorgio Prezioso - "Thunder"

A drinking song! 🍻 How appropriate!

It's not really my type of music. But, I thought I should add it to this thread in case anybody else was wondering what the song was.

CBC didn't show the competition, so I didn't see any of it (in fact they didn't even mention the WTT or give results on the CBC Winter Sports website). From the description I'd have said not my type of music either, but I listened anyway. I liked it! I'd only use it for warm-up music to get revved up, but still my musical horizon was just expanded a teensy bit.

I was listening the music and I like it and have rhythm. Was watching the competition late in YouTube and with a nice view of the coast and with some ships in the horizon from the terrace .

Was listening in the afternoon meanwhile was taking some photos (I carry my camera at last) from a lookout with a panoramic view of the harbor some songs from 80s and this song from Martika - I feel the earth move (I hope don't have seism or earthquake here)

Watching and listening to Coachella music festival live stream on YouTube. Just finished listening to a great live set from LA Philharmonic with guests including Cynthia Erivo and Laufey.

Ursula K. LeGuin’s short essay

Why Are Americans Afraid of Dragons?🐉

I'm revisiting Cocteau Twins

It took nearly a week for me to find somewhere where you can listen to the full song that doesn't require having a Spotify or Apple Music account (I don't have either), but I heard this on the radio on Monday and I absolutely loved it:

Marie-Thérèse - "P21 (Rev It Up)"

There is very little information about the singer on the internet. The only thing I know for definite is that she is from Dublin. But, she seems to have been brought up very well, because whenever somebody plays her songs on the radio, she always puts posts up on her various social media profiles thanking them.

Speaking of social media, when you go to her Instagram profile, there is a link to a Linktree page. And amongst the links on there is a link to an article about her on a Canadian website. So, given that her name is spelt the French way, I wonder if she has family connections over there.

The problem with the website I linked to is that it has confused her and another singer with the same name. (They wouldn't have that problem if they used their surnames...) So, of the songs listed at the bottom of the page, only "Luna" is actually by her. But to be honest, I didn't like it as much as "P21 (Rev It Up)".

I haven't heard her cover of "Strange Relationship" yet, but I don't think I would like it, because I didn't like Prince's original.

But, I'm looking forward to hearing more of her music in the future, and seeing what it will be like.

I've just finished my voting for the annual classic music top 100 countdown, the theme this year is piano and yes, there were several skating programs in my choices and way more in the list on nominations

I do wish some skaters, not only here, would discover the music of Elena Kats-Chernin.....

The original cast album of "Oliver!", after coming across an old club carnival program with a photo of the opening group number to "Who Will Buy?" and seeing myself in the crowd as the Strawberry Seller :). I think I had enough solo seconds to do a spread eagle/Axel/spread eagle to her one line.

I  "Oliver!" - especially for "Who will Buy?" The first song I learned from the musical was "Consider Yourself," which we sang in our elementary school music assemblies.
Some opera.. a song from Alessandro Safina titled Il Mirto e la Rosa from the disc insieme a te ( listening the full album)

I know the song "Il Mirto e La Rosa" because Todd Eldredge skated to it one season in Stars on Ice!:cheer::laugh3:

I'm listening to the countdown mentioned above and they just played Thomas Newman's American Beauty... god, I would love one of our most artistic skaters to try this gorgeous piece though it would not be easy (you will probably hear more from me as they count down...)

They are now playing the Chopin Ballade 1 and I will give everyone just three guesses what I am seeing with my mind's eye (and the first two don't count) 💙🩵💙
