2025-2026 Canadian Figure Skating

Isn't it an open competition, rather than an ISU international? If so, I don't think skaters need to be selected by their Fed to enter?
There's no surprise about the type of competition Clare entered, more so that she is still competing at all. She wasn't doing very well at the beginning of last season, subsequently withdrew from all other competitions (including Nationals, despite being at the send-off) and then was removed from the ISP. Unlike Lindsay, she wasn't removed from the WS list, but people were still unsure about he plans.

(Also, the USFS ISP selection procedure is fairly intransparent, there are threshold scores but they don't seem to be communicated publicly, though I hope the skaters themselves at least get that information.)

Not that surprising but Nik Sorensen's suspension was overturned by an arbiter after receiving the decision by the Sport Dispute Resolution Centre of Canada that OSIC had no jurisdiction to investigate the allegations against him. He was not a Cdn citizen and was not competing for Canada at the time the allegations were to have occurred. He also did not agree to be retroactively bound by Canada's national abuse policy. Of course, it should be added that he denies the allegation and it has not been tested in court. Not sure what the next step is or if there is a next step.

Paragraph 46 is about the UCCMS agreement form he signed on July 1 2024 that he didn't agree with in order to compete and that he was traveling and commencing competitions a week after. Paragraph 51 is also about him signing to compete the following week. That doesn't make sense to me, his first competition was supposed to be Shanghai Trophy in October. He didn't compete before then from what I can tell.

The decision is very narrowly tailored to a procedural argument. Sorensen is arguing that he did not freely consent to retroactive application of the UCSSMS. He argues that his electronic signature agreeing to retroactive application was invalid, as it was the only option on the electronic form if he wanted to compete (wheth er or not he actually competed) and that by letter from counsel he never agreed to its application. I don't know what comp it is referring to, it does seem to imply he wanted to compete that July:scratch2:

The arbitrator explicitly states that she is not making findings as to whether the conduct would have been prohibited if the consent had been valid (although her tone in dicta leads me to believe she would have found it was not covered). I assume if any appeal is successful, it will be assigned to a different arbitrator because of that, but I have no real clue.

There was no competition in July that he was entered in as far as I know. Looking at paragraph 51, it states that he signed so that he could attend a competition the following week. The prior two seasons he'd started competing in October at the Finlandia Challenger event, that pattern seemed to be holding for 2024-25 with Denis Ten/Shanghai Trophy.

ditto... this was great to watch... a lot of flow and speed. He could improve the centering of the second spin and get a high jump on the flying entrance of the third spin...

just saying this so he has some work to focus on because otherwise, it's pretty excellent :)

Well, I might have jinxed David.
I was hoping for a 130+ free skate from him. He still won.
He attempted a 4T 👏
(But, it was downgraded and he fell)
His 3A’s seem solid though….

Also, he still scored over 200. This makes him one of our top 5 Senior Men already for this season 😝

Gabrielle Daleman won the short program at Broadmoor Open with a score of 59.16 and a 3T-3T :hap10:

Also David B's free skate - https://cinematic-images.smugmug.co...g-/Friday-Events/20-JUNIOR-MEN-FS/i-Lbrsf49/A
OMG!!!
So many Canada good results.
Reese won ahead of American star Sophie. She almost landed her 3T 3T and 3Lo with positive GOE.

Wow!! But, the best result of the day is actually Gabrielle. 59.16 is fantastic and she has her 3T 3T back. If she scores over 106.84 tmrw, she is over 166 and gets a Challenger event. She is making a case for herself for the TBD spot for Skate Canada. Wow!! What a comeback from our Olympic Gold medalist 👏

Wow ! Does anyone have a video of her performance ?
She still to me the biggest competition to Maddie Schizas when she is on ! Good job Gabby !

I think it is best for us to wait till after the free skate.

The fact that her solo jump is a 3S and she had issues with it, might mean we see a two 3S, 3T and 2A technical free skate layout.

hehe ;) i would give Gabby some slack... I doubt she will earn the benchmark score ... but this is very exciting that she was able to land her trademark combo in the SP. We will know Gabby is back on when her lutz is steady enough to be in the SP.
