2025-26 British and Irish figure skating

Exciting news - looks like there's another new British senior Ice Dance team - Dana Sabatini-Speciale and Daniel Kaye are training with Barbara Fusar Poli's coaching team in Italy. Dana skated for Canada previously and Daniel won British solo ice dance at junior level.

More information over in the Retirements. Splits and New Partnerships thread...

Whilst it is great to see so many Ice Dance partnerships, it means that there are going to be a lot of talented skaters ending up disappointed at not getting assignments.

I'm surprised by this switch. When Daniel was on Ice Partner Search, he was looking to represent Ireland. And I thought this would be a good thing, as he and his new partner could benefit from competing alongside and against a partnership as experienced as Soucisse / Firus (who, in turn, would benefit from having some competition at Nationals).

But when the partnership with Dana was initially announced, they were supposed to be representing South Africa (through family connections for Daniel). And they would have been pretty much guaranteed international assignments without the help of anybody else.

They won Senior Ice Dance at the Western Provinces Championships in Cape Town in December:

So why move into the crowded British field?

I wonder. Does Dana maybe have a British passport already, or is maybe eligible for one through family connections, and they decided that it would be easier to just represent GBR rather than have her go through a lot of red tape in the future?

Whatever the case, she is in London sightseeing with Daniel at the moment. Here is an album of photos she put up yesterday:

Looking forward to seeing how Dan² get on.

Has anyone tried to get tickets for Euros 26 yet? They went on sale this morning and each day has 2 sessions but they say start times of 6 am and 7 am!

I've bought tickets for the 7 am Saturday thinking it must mean 7 pm but it states that time on the actual tickets. Bizarre

I was just wondering the same thing! What a pain that it is two sessions. The tickets are expensive for one session. I have tickets for Friday and Saturday, i hope it is the women’s and ice dance free

I've spoken to someone at Ticketmaster who said that the events definitely start at 6 am and 7 am which obviously I said is wrong. They said that's the information given to them by the event organisers.

I've got tickets for the later one in the hope it's the free dance. Why do they make it so difficult!

I know! My friend is in a meeting and I just hope she is not disappointed by what I have got. I have got two 7:00 am sessions

That sounds odd. I had a look at tickets just now and there's only one session each day - the other "session" (at 6 a.m.) is for a parking pass.

Tickets for the "07.00 session" are for the whole day. I'll try to get in touch with the organisers to let them know that there are confusing start times listed on Ticketmaster.

There are no start times listed, but here's the event schedule in case it's useful: https://www.europeans2026.com/ticketing

Tickets for the gala are pretty reasonable.

We just sent you Lucy Hancock, so we want Peter back now.
I'm don't think Hancock/Dotzert are confirmed for Canada yet. I don't trust Skate Ontario entry lists for that.

Besides if Peter goes back, it may not be for Ice Dance. He was practicing Pairs lifts from his Instagram stories.

We need another pairs team in GB - we have an extra place at Euros next year but no one to skate!

And he'd be pretty much skating at home - his home town (Rotherham) is only a few miles from Sheffield.
I think it would be difficult for someone who is new to pairs to get the technical minimums in time - particularly if they are coming from ice dance rather than singles. He is unlikely to have maintained jumps to the standard needed, given that they aren't used in ice dance.

Assuming that she is still registered for Canada, it would be nice to have Molly back too. ;)

Even though the Rotherham super-team of Lucy and Peter didn't happen, I'm still hoping for a Yorkshire super-team of Molly and Peter!

What are you putting in the water to produce so many good skaters?! (And could you stop making it maple flavoured...?)

I remember how excited we were just a few years ago when we suddenly went from one partnership to three partnerships. What happened that we went back to one so quickly?

Of course, Zoe and Chris have retired, and are now busy coaching quite a few skaters. But do you know what the status of Lydia and Harry is? Could they come back?

Yes, you're absolutely right about Peter. (Another thought - I wonder if Neamh Davison and Daniel Borisov might be able to get the technical scores to compete at Euros - I think they'd be eligible to skate in senior pairs now (they're both 21 this year). Neamh would be skating at home.

A Yorkshire super-team of Molly and Peter would indeed be fab! We certainly seem to have a lot of fantastic skaters from, and still skating in, Yorkshire.

Lydia and Harry are no longer skating together, sadly - such a great team.

I had a feeling they had split, but I couldn't remember.

I wonder if either of them are still training and looking for partners. Neither of them are on IPS anyway. I looked at Harry's Instagram, and saw that he has a son now. His priorities in life are probably different now to what they were a year or two ago. And Lydia seems to be skating in shows on cruise ships now. So, to me, it doesn't look like either of them will be returning to competition.

It's a shame. I really liked them too!

Molly and Peter do not look to be happening. Their skating together looked to be for fun, Molly's no longer in Canada.
