The 2026 European Figure Skating Championships will take place January 13-18, 2026, in Sheffield, Great Britain, at the Utilita Arena.

The event is sanctioned by the International Skating Union (ISU) and is one of the four (World, Four Continents, and World Junior Championships) annual figure skating competitions designated “ISU Championships.” Skaters must belong to a European member nation of the ISU to compete and must be at least seventeen before July 1 preceding the event.

The ISU European Figure Skating Championships 2026 will be conducted in accordance with the ISU Constitution and General Regulations 2024, ISU Constitution 2025, the ISU Special Regulations & Technical Rules Single & Pair Skating and Ice Dance 2024, as well as all pertinent ISU Communications.

Skaters/teams participating must have reached the following Combined Total Elements Scores (SP/RD + FS/FD) during the ongoing season (2025/26) or the immediately preceding season (2024/25):

I’ve had a response from the organisers of the Europeans regarding some of the confusion about information on the ticketing (Ticketmaster) site.

The event schedule is still subject to change, as they won’t have final timings until the competitor list is confirmed in December. They have shown an indicative schedule to help people plan (see post above).

The 7 a.m. start time reflects doors opening for official practice sessions, and not the competition.

The organisers are working with Ticketmaster to see if they can make their FAQs clearer (this includes addressing confusion regarding the parking pass).

They’ve also set up an enquiry form on the website for anyone who has questions or issues. Europeans 2026 - Enquiries

There’s also an FAQ page on the website for FAQS & CONTACT US | EFSC 26

I bought tickets last week!

I am struggling to find hotels within walking distance ( 1 1/2 miles) or on public transit that is less than 100 pounds per night. I have both contacted one of the official hotels and the named person on the official site.

Has anyone been to Sheffield and have advice?

Hi - I live in Sheffield, so don't have a lot of experience of staying in the hotels.

However, the arena is next to the tramline, and the Ibis Hotel (Shude Street/City Centre) is right next to a tram stop that will take you directly to the Arena.

It's currently showing prices of £315 to stay from Tuesday 13th to Monday 19th https://all.accor.com/ssr/app/accor...=false&productCode=null&hideHotelDetails=true

Also for visitors to Sheffield:

If you're travelling from London, direct trains go from London St Pancras or you can change at Doncaster. About 2 hours/2 and a quarter hours for either option.

There are several hotels in the city centre, (various star ratings/standards) and it's very easy to hop on a tram from Sheffield city centre to the arena (it's about 15 minutes journey time). There are buses from the city centre to the arena, too, but the tram is probably the most straightforward option. The Ibis hotel (Shude Street/city centre) is 1 minute's walk from the tram stop (Fitzalan Square/Ponds Forge).

There are a couple of mid-range hotels in the Victoria Quays neighbourhood (Quays Hotel and Crowne Plaza) just out of the city centre. From the Quays to the nearest tram stop (Fitzalan Square/Ponds Forge) is about 10 minutes walk.

There are some hotels near the arena, but it's not an interesting area around there.

So I am trying to figure out if 59 Carlisle Street E is close to a tram stop? Do you know? TIA

I am having a heck of a time figuring out housing close to the arena.

No, it's not close to a tram stop - the closest tram stop from Carlisle Street is probably Woodbourne Road, which is about a 25 minute walk. The arena is probably a 40 minute walk from 59 Carlisle Street. It's not a very nice walk either, IMHO. Carlisle Street is right in the middle of a very industrial area, and a very busy road, so it might be a noisy option.

Hi, I posted on the tickets info too but this chat seems to be a bit more active.. I am looking to buy tickets but tier 1 section 106/102/101 is reported as restricted view. Do you have any idea why would that be the case? This is my first time going in the arena so not sure what to expect! Many thanks

I replied on that other thread, but want to add...

Those sections are on the preferred, judges' side, and are the same price for lower level tickets close to the ice as the seats in the higher section above the judges. So I think the restrictions on view are likely to be significant to justify that pricing structure.

Unfortunately I’m not able to go to Euros this year, and need to resell my ticket. All-event ticket, Section 118, Row H, seat 1. Cost $330 US. DM me if interested!

Hoping to travel up from Somerset to see the British pairs teams! Will be travelling by train and looking at hotels near Victoria Quays area to get the tram to the arena. Does anyone know if it's an okay area to be travelling at night to/from? Or any other things to check out in Sheffield at the same time?

Probably be a lot of skating fans travelling that night. I hear they're a rough crowd.

Sheffield has quite a few museums, I've only been to the Millennium Gallery, which was worth a visit, if you like that sort of thing.

It's a bit of a dismal time of year to visit, parks are not at their best, and the best thing about Sheffield is the surrounding countryside.

Thanks for the updates! How are the allocations of number of places per discipline calculated? I'm surprised that Finland has three ice dance teams competing - does that mean 3 ice dance team places for GB, too?

Finland: 4th place for Turkilla/Versluis and 7th for Orihara/Pirinen in 2025
4+7=13 (13 is the maximum for 3 spots)

Great Britain: 3rd for Fear/Gibson and 13th for Bekker/Hernandez
3+13=16 (so 2 spots. 14 to 28 is 2 spots).
