Why waste precious jgp spots on someone who doesn't even want to stay in singles long term?
She said in interview that she wants to be ice dancer, but stays in singles for now, because she has "some things left".
So tell Yamada, Enomoto or Ikkanda that they can't go to JGP, because Kushida wants to have fun.

Not because she wants to have fun, but because she is factually outperforming them. That's sports, and it doesn't matter if she wants to continue with singles long-term. What matters is that she is in Singles right now, and doing very well for herself.

Because objecituvely she's a better skater, she plays by the same rules and she's winning over them with a high margin. And I don't have a single doubt that she's training extremely hard to be able to achieve this. She's a serious player not just having fun.
But definitely she's soo good as a performer that she makes it very easy to believe she's just having fun

Thanks, as always, for your great coverage here. Did you happen to upload video from the Junior Womens FS, in particular Mao's, Mayuko's, and Ikura's FSs? I'm not sure if I missed it in the thread, and I'm not finding anything on Twitter yet.

Exactly. It's a sport, not a charity show. There is a lot at stake. She doesn't want to be a singles skater. Giving her a spot is a waste.
JGP isn't only a fun competition. JGP and JWC (and YOG) are the only competitions that can give junior skater SB (that will later send them to senior GP) and experience of skating at international competition with a deep field.
Of course Kushida wants the best for herself. It's on JSF to manage their talent properly. It's their tunnel vision that pushes these girls into 3a and injuries. On top of my head Yamada, Matsunami, Kawakatsu (and Miyazaki) train 3a. Kono and Uezono used to, but now they are injured. That on top of Takagi, Oka, Okada and Kanazawa.
Yes, I know, deep field. But that's exactly why some decisions need to be made. Like not sending ice dancers to singles competitions.

I missed the final group of the junior girls and just caught up, and wow~~

Ikura's program is gorgeous!! I usually find piano-only programs boring, but the choreo and her performance is so great. Love the sharp arm movements throughout, it makes the program memorable. Her ice dancing training has certainly translated to better skating skills and even better performance

I think she nailed her piano program better than Kaoruko, as much as I love my daughter, sorry Kaoruko

Mao is just.... no words

I believe she's undefeated in all her junior competitions, both domestic & international? That is insane..... surely it's a record already, especially since she's doing 4 years of juniors instead of just 2
