I hope and pray Shin/Nagy have the skate of their lives. Pretend the World Championship title is on the line and they are skating to get it. Or will that make it worse. Idk.

The ISU is quite late with putting tiles for streams on their channel this season. For the JGPs so far it was 1-2 days before the competition started.

Re pairs: Austria will really send Schaller/Mayr, she posted on her instagram. Which means they put citizenship above results.
And for ice dance...Paolino/Tuba WD from Lombardia before the free dance. Manni/Roethlisberger placed ahead of them in the rhythm dance. I wonder if that will change who the fed actually sends.
Ukraine has switched their dance entries. Now Pinchuk/Pogorielov will go to Beijing.

I’m wondering if P/T WD because they are going to Beijing, also maybe it even was strategic to WD because they were so far behind M/R after the RD that it would not look good for the Fed with such big scores difference from the National Qualifying Competition. Since they never skater the FD there were no offically total score to compare it with. That T/F WD right before this competition feels iffy. It might be injury but it all seems so strange with P/T winning the National Competition and also suddenly WD after that score in the RD and behind M/R.
Imagine if T/F did skate at Lombardia as well and also placed above them. It would look superbad for the Fed sending the 3rd best team. I think the Italian Fed will stick with their selection process, but who knows.

I’m wondering why P/T even competed at Lombardia in first place. It would perfectly make sense for them to WD from all given how close the Beijing Qualifier is. Nobody would think that was strange. And they would have avoided getting their scores compared.

There aren't any tech minimums for this event. Shaidorov can't take part in the event as he got a spot at Worlds. The other spot must be earned by another skater.

That is truly a baffling decision on the part of USFSA to use Champs Camp skates as the only determining factor to who competes to earn a spot at such a prestigious event like the Olympics.
Not just that. Apparently Sophia Schaller is struggling with back problems.

I think that’s only a rumor. We don’t have an official explanation as to why Shin/Nagy were chosen, nor would I expect one.
It does seem that USFS is excited about, and very invested in the progress of, Shin/Nagy. I personally might have chosen someone else—a team with more experience together, and better competitive results—but I wish them well and hope they are able to secure the spot.

I think the reason might be that Shin/Nagy is the strongest pair that would be able go to the Olympics as the third team.
I saw a time schedule posted, but is that Beijing time? I am trying to convert to EST so I can HOPEFULLY watch this on the ISU channel in the USA. Otherwise, any reliable VPNs out there that won't infect my computer? Thanks for help in advance, really looking forward to get this season started!

I didn't say they are the USA's 3rd strongest pair team. I say they are the USA's 3rd strongest pair team that is able to take part in the Olympics.

The competitor who qualifies a spot for the country does not have to be the competitor who gets to go to the Olympics AFAIR.
Shin & Nagy were strongest at the time of Champs Camp, and so are slated so far to compete here. If they place so as to win a third spot, I believe the US could then send any 3 teams it wants to the Olympics, not necessarily including Shin & Nagy?

I think they are referring to citizenship issues with other teams.

Yes. But there aren't too many teams with the citizenship.
