2025-2026 Canadian Figure Skating

Wow!! He also skated 250+
Gogolev is a top ten contender for Olympics and WC now….
Also, he surpassed my Romsky for the spot. Romsky was robbed on PCS. He should have finished 2nd. It is amazing how judges drop you when you aren’t the number 1 from a country
actually both deserved higher PCS

Men’s - The battle between Romsky and GoGo is tied at 1-1. With each Canadian man winning a Challenger. I never thought this would happen this season
I don't think it will be easy for Keegan to earn the spot with the way Gogo and Roman have skated so far.
Ladies - Loved SMD and Kaiya SP. Both scored 64. Wow!! I want these ladies over 180. Maddie, the competition is on
I am on team SMD. :)
Pairs - I do now see an opportunity for Yohnathan and Ava to nab the second Olympic spot 😳
Not so fast. You know I am all about Ava and Yoni.. but Lia and Trennt lost a big chunk of points with a missed SP lift here. It's not a common mistake at that level and it was costly.

Nice!!! Are we still in second place ahead of Korea and USA?

Still but Korea is coming for us ;)
Table on Wikipedia not completely up-to-date (women from latest event missing). Adding one gold to Korea's stats puts Korea almost equal with Canada; CAN = KOR in gold and silver, CAN still ahead in bronze.

USA ahead of CAN in total medals, but most of theirs are bronze.

yup. that's what I saw :). but didn't care to post until the medal table is updated :)

Protocols say

3a. No fall. No under-rotation. -3 GOE for a step out.

I haven't seen it but it's great that she had the guts to try it. Of course, after that, she may have been slightly distracted and popped a couple jumps which prevented her from staying on the podium but that's a very positive competition for SMD.
Plus she got a new total PB at a competition that wasn't 4CC, so very very positive competition for her :D

It really is showing how badly Maddy needed to be in the top ten at worlds last year. I too like the idea of SMD going to the Olympics but just afraid of how she will do on such a big stage. Be nice if she went along with Maddy. All focus would be on Maddy and therefore less pressure on SMD. Did SMD even get to go to Jr Worlds. I know Gogo did several times.

Canadians is going to be very exciting this year. Both SMD and Kaiya placed 5th in their events this weekend and both with about the same scores. I agree that landing the 3A might have thrown SMD off a bit cause had she even landed one more triple she would have placed 3rd. I seem to remember Amber also doing the same thing.... landing the 3A then losing some of her other jumps. So if SMD can keep on the same path as Amber Canada may just have a good chance of getting a Lady back into the top 10 on a regular basis. And have they both beaten Maddy's top score so far this season.

Skate Canada has the footage and has declared Sara-Maude to be the first Canadian woman to land a 3A :yes1:

Hehe :). I like the two steps approach.... First landed 3a in international competition. Next, she'll be the first Canadian to land a 3a with positive GOE in international competition.

I am so proud of Sara-Maude. Such hard work she's done to steadily improve her content, year after year, after year.

I’m so happy for SMD 👏
Her 3A is so good!!! She fully rotated that jump and it is officially the first 3A for Canadian ladies. I just wish she changed her 2T 2Lo combo to just one 2T and did 3Lo 2A 2A combo instead. She could have won bronze with a better jump layout. 178.77 is her PB. She also landed her flip.

Also, Kaiya’s program was good too. Her PCS score was well deserved. I love that program for her. 178.44 is amazing and hopefully gives her another challenger event. Her goal in Seniors was to be a 180+ skater and I think she can achieve this in the Orser camp. The popped loop at the end, was costly. But, this is way better than how she skated domestically.

Just watched SMD short on YouTube and it was fantastic. It really should have been scored 67-69 points. If she skated for a certain country, which I won't mention, it would have been 3 - 4 points higher.

Robert Brodie writes about Uliana Shiryaeva's host spot selection for SCI:

Also Mike Slipchuk mentions they're looking at getting some of the Juniors out for Senior events (including Kemp/Elizarov and Grayson Long)
