TES 60.82, PCS 88.25 with a fall on the 4T and no 3A. That PCS saved him a lot. He wouldn't get the Worlds CTES with these performances and I don't know if Skate Canada would consider him ready based on the protocol for his free skate.Keegan just finished his free skate from the Texas Open. He scored 231.07!!! 148.07 on the free skate portion.
This shows he isn’t quite as consistent on the jumps as Stephen and Roman. To me, he is at the Aleksa/Grayson level at this moment. 3/4/5 in Canadian Senior Men. But, he did score over 219. So, this means he will get a Challenger or two![]()
go
go Keegan!! Good start to the season. He was saved by PCS
he landed only 3 triples. If it weren't for Texas and small competition etc, he probably wouldn't have scored 88 in PCS with two pops and a fall. Most skaters in most competitions would get 75 maximum with such a skate.TES 60.82, PCS 88.25 with a fall on the 4T and no 3A. That PCS saved him a lot. this shows only that he was overscored but that's fine with me. He needed a good score to get his challenger. He got it... but he is not in top 5 at Canadians with this skate. He has time to improve and I wish him well.Keegan just finished his free skate from the Texas Open. He scored 231.07!!! 148.07 on the free skate portion.

To be fair, he did have a good triple axel in the short program. But generally, the jumps just weren't there, though the performance was (in the short, I haven't seen the free yet).Yup. Yikes. His TES scores are very low. His jumps will need some work and consistency. John Kim and Matthew Neuman get better TES scores at this moment. Keegan’s PCS scores are wowthough!!!
Edit: just saw the protocol sheet.
4Tq (fall)
He only has two triples: 3Lz and 3S. Landed only three triples in the free skate. No triple triple. No 3Lo or 3F. He didn’t even attempt a 3A. To me, he is deserving of only one challenger event. But, he needs to do better
Skate Canada has Warsaw and Zagreb as the last competitions remaining for assignments to be decided since Icechallenge looks to be decided. They could add Tallinn if they wanted, but it would depend on how many byes they want to give to Nationals. If he doesn't have a bye via assignment, he shouldn't have issues with qualifying since he made the Challenge minimum score (44.5 TES in the free) and Alberta has enough spots. If I am reading @saine's post correctly, he should be able to go directly to Challenge, if he gets an international assignment. And go directly to Nationals if that assignment is Zabreb, Warsaw, or Tallinn.
I have to admit I wasn't too impressed with Keegan. i think he had an injury which has hampered training but if he isn't doing the GRand Prix no matter what reason it would be great if he could get three challengers though doubtful. He just needs to compete and rotate those jumps. He needs 3 quads in the FsS so does he haeve the quad lut or salchow? Right now it is Gogo then Roman and then Keegan. Nothing against Aleksa I wish Keegan was given his spot at Skate Canada.I guess Skate Canada had no idea Keegan was returning or they may have waited. Keegan could not have know how good Roman and Gogo would do at their first couple of Chalengers. I wonder if that would changed whether he came back. We will never know. But I think Keegan started too late. Still I like his skating. He is different. He is fun to watch.Keegan just finished his free skate from the Texas Open. the reason is simple : he "unretired" after the GP assignments were made. If he had announced his comeback. a few weeks earlier, he would have two spots as a return skater with previous success at his last worlds.I have to admit I wasn't too impressed with Keegan. i think he had an injury which has hampered training but if he isn't doing the GRand Prix no matter what reason
I really believe that the limit for anyone is two challengersit would be great if he could get three challengers though doubtful.
He could start with landing a couple quads and a couple triple axels. He just needs to compete and rotate those jumps. He needs 3 quads in the FsS so does he haeve the quad lut or salchow?
Aleksa earned his spot. I never liked him but it wouldn't be fair to take away his spot. I don't see Keegan as the third Canadian man at this point. He will need to land more than 3 clean triples in his LPRight now it is Gogo then Roman and then Keegan. Nothing against Aleksa I wish Keegan was given his spot at Skate Canada.
I don't think it's very helpful to speculate about how things happened. What is there is what has to be dealt with.I guess Skate Canada had no idea Keegan was returning or they may have waited. Keegan could not have know how good Roman and Gogo would do at their first couple of Chalengers.
I always liked Keegan's big skating (and he is very short on the ice) but I don't really think he's going to get what he wants out of this. Yes, he unretired too late. I think he may get a medal at Nationals but that's not even guaranteed based on what he is bringing right now. Nobody from Skate Canada would give him 8.5-9s PCS for what he did in Texas. I heard everything is bigger in Texas... well that's official nowI wonder if that would changed whether he came back. We will never know. But I think Keegan started too late. Still I like his skating. He is different. He is fun to watch.
Yeah, that would make sense. And it's not like getting 219 means a guaranteed Challenger. The SC document underlines consistently for attaining the target scores. Gabby doesn't have a Challenger yet, after exceeding the minimum at one US domestic event. I do think they'll send him out, but I'd like to see him show a bit more first.Skate Canada has Warsaw and Zagreb as the last competitions remaining for assignments to be decided since Icechallenge looks to be decided. Zagreb's entries are due November 7 and Alberta is the only major section with Sectionals before that deadline. I would wait until after Alberta sectionals before giving him an assignment based on his TES.
The JGPF qualifiers in pairs are 3 Canadian, 3 Chinese, with all 3 alternates from USA.Jazzy and Kiki took silver in Gdansk adding to the medal tally.
The final outcome is that the top three Canadian pairs have all qualified for the JGPF.
Ava and Yoni (1st qualifier)
Jazzy and Kiki (4th qualifier)
Julia and Étienne (6th qualifier)
Mission accomplished for our pairs.
Layla and Alexander are looking for qualification too. They stand in 2nd after the RD.
Yup... I didn't mention the others because of the focus of this threadThe JGPF qualifiers in pairs are 3 Canadian, 3 Chinese, with all 3 alternates from USA.
I am concerned about the music also.Yeah, that would make sense. And it's not like getting 219 means a guaranteed Challenger. The SC document underlines consistently for attaining the target scores. On another note, he included a snippet of a song going "R.O.C.K. in the USA" near the end of the SP, which is one of the most out of touch music choices I've seen in a hot minute.
