How to Watch Japanese Nationals

FOD (Fuji On Demand)
FOD (Fuji On Demand) Premium will livestream the entire competition, including the Opening Ceremony and SP/RD draw,
Medalist On Ice (Gala), and the Olympic and World Championship Representative Press Conference

Unless changes are made, the FOD stream will likely look different from the other Fuji broadcasts
Benefits of FOD:
  • Convenience~One livestream link per day, no need to switch channels between or during events
  • No commercials or fluff breaks interrupting performances or Kiss & Cry coverage
  • Livestream is rewindable
What you won’t get with FOD
  • Commentary
  • Post skate interviews
  • As many camera angles, close ups
  • Fancy graphics~Ice Scope, Ice Stats, PPC during 6 min warmup, elements executed vs PPC after performance (Ice Scope graphics may be shown but without commentary)
The only graphics usually displayed on FOD livestreams is an image showing program music of the upcoming group of skaters during their 6 min warm-up

To access FOD Premium streams you will need to purchase a subscription (1,320 yen per month, 200 yen for the first month)
and use a VPN set to Japan if viewing from outside of the country
The SP/RD Draw and press conferences will be viewable without a subscription, free of charge; VPN set to Japan

You can purchase a subscription here
A Japan address and phone number is not needed to set up an account, however a postal code is required
Entering any valid Japan postal code should easily satisfy that requirement

TVer
Free, video on demand streaming platform; VPN needed if viewing from outside of Japan
No account needed to access streams, registering just gives you more service options
TVer will stream most events being aired on Fuji TV (not the Pairs SP or Medalist on Ice)
TVer (Fuji TV stream direct link)
TVer Men & Women SP link
TVer Men FS Groups 3 & 4 link
TVer Women FS Groups 3 & 4 link

IPTV Services
These services are illegally pirating Japanese TV so communication and payment will be done “discreetly”
I have tested all IPTV services listed below and have had questions and issues resolved relatively quickly by contacting customer support

CS Fuji TV TWO will be the only channel besides FOD broadcasting all of the Pairs and Ice Dance events Live
In order to watch the entire competition without FOD, you will need to access a combination of CS Fuji TV TWO and either Fuji TV or TVer

Nozomi
Nozomi Standard (60 Channels) Includes Fuji TV, BS Fuji and CS Fuji TV TWO
Service not available in Japan, Mainland China or the Netherlands
3 Day Test for $3.50 USD
PayPal is shown as an accepted form of payment but credit card is the only option available during checkout
Cost efficient, prompt communication after payment, high quality stream, excellent customer support
If using on Windows or Mac, you will need to download a file to install the Nozomi player onto your computer

ITVJP
Premium package (81 Channels) includes Fuji TV, BS Fuji and CS Fuji TV TWO
1 Month for $20 USD + 8% transaction fee = $21.60 (I was charged an extra $1.08 fee on top of the 8%, $22.68 USD total)
If purchasing with PayPal, payment must be sent using Friends and Family method
I used this service to watch Kinoshita Group Cup and unfortunately experienced intermittent buffering and other stability issues with the stream

Himawari
No longer compatible with PC or Mac computers
Himawari Plus (97 Channels) includes Fuji TV, BS Fuji and CS Fuji TV TWO
Service not available in Japan and Mainland China
3 Day Test $4.60 USD
7 Day Plan $9.20 USD

Kaeri TV
Kaeri TV Plus (90 Channels) includes Fuji TV, BS Fuji and CS Fuji TV TWO
3 Day Trial $3 USD (Must be purchased along with a Monthly or Yearly Plan)
Monthly Plan $26 USD ($18.25 per month if you purchase a Yearly Plan)
After the 3 Day Trial period is over you will automatically be charged for the Monthly (or Yearly) Plan until cancelled
(Cancellation is not as easy as stated. I had to contact customer support in order to cancel my subscription)
High quality streams but pricey
Like Nozomi, Kaeri TV installs a video player onto your computer
After purchasing, you may need to wait awhile to receive the Kaeri ID and default password for set up (site says it should be sent within 24 hours)
With Nozomi and Himawari, emails containing necessary info is sent almost immediately after purchase

Other options
This qq streamer usually streams this competition
If and when I see him or any other JNats stream go live, I’ll post a link (I'm sure others will share links as well)

I plan to record from the FOD livestream and share video of every skater / team competing
I plan to upload videos of entire Groups rather than individual performances
At the end of each day, after all events are completed, I’ll compile links to video from that day into one post
I’ll try my best to get these videos processed and uploaded asap however, I have been struggling with quality issues while recording
so it’ll probably take me more than a few hours to finish

There will most likely be Youtube and “X” accounts sharing videos of select skaters before I’m able to post

I am a bit confused about TVer. I have the app on my laptop. I set my VPN to Japan and went to the station I believe is Fuji TV.
1. Is this the same as Fuji TV on Nozomi?
2. If it is, I dont need TVer. But if it is not, I dont see how to get on demand video...only live. What am I missing?

Fuji TV channel on TVer will be airing select programs being shown on Fuji TV
Fuji TV will air the Pairs SP and a portion of Medalist on Ice but those events will not be shown on TVer

If you can access Fuji TV with Nozomi or any other IPTV service you do not need to use TVer

Thanks! After running my Honda generator for 5 hours, the power came back....next wind event in two days but only 45 mph.

Does Tver only do re-broadcasts, not livestreams? I was hoping to watch something without a subscription, but it seems that Tver is not airing yet, and the qq stream is mostly not working.

tsuyoboogie - THANK YOU so much for all this information. I very much wanted to be able to watch Japanese nationals and because of you I am able to. Great work.

Select Fuji TV scheduled programs will air live on TVer

TVer Men & Women SP link (since this broadcast is already over you will need to register for an account to watch the replay)
TVer Men FS Groups 3 & 4 link (airing Saturday 12.20, 7pm~9pm JST)
TVer Women FS Groups 3 & 4 link (airing Sunday 12.21, 7pm~8:54 JST)

Or on demand on Nozomi, roughly channel 5. So far, I have only been using CS Fuji TV Two and Fuji TV, channel 55. Gone are the days of hesitant, jerky video, it seems. Dont know who the announcers are when they even have announcers, but I like the lady more than the guy (LOL!) He seems to like to talk. Those start orders people publish here are great. Its easier to corrolate the Japanese charactors than use google translate and you might get some very interesting names with google translate.

Does anyone know, with the FOD subscription, when the event is totally over will I still have access to the stream to go back?

Videos found on YT and @tsuyoboogie video links all in one place...just another option
