American Ladies Singles skater. Biggest claim to fame is that she was the 1991 and 1995 Universiade Champion. Also won the Nebelhorn Trophy in 1988.

Thanks. Never heard of her, but never mind. I feel spoilt because Chris and her are doing youtube commentary, and Simon (yes him!) and Louise Walden are doing Eurosport.

I am jealous. I would love to have access to the Eurosport coverage, to hear Simon and Louise's views, and to hear the interviews with the skaters that another member has been telling us about them showing during the resurfacings.

I subscribe to Discovery+ which is EUR 5 per month, so I have access to everything and can mute commentary if I wish. I also have Eurosport on cable TV but they don't always show everything.

I find it a small price to pay just during the skating season, so that I have full control.

Discovery+ is really quite affordable and the option to mute commentary is worth it 😁

Yes, the ability to select different soundtracks on the Eurosport Player and then Discovery+ was great! And the price was too!

That's why I was so annoyed when British Eurosport closed down, and the content was transferred to TNT Sports. Because whereas the package on Discovery+ that included Eurosport cost £7.99, the package on Discovery+ that includes TNT Sports costs £30.99. That's a big difference for those of us that only watch the minority sports and aren't interested in mainstream sports like football, rugby, and cricket.

And I am dreading what the prices will be in a couple of months time when Discovery+ transforms into HBO Max.

That is why I wish this mess over the future ownership of WBD would be sorted out soon. Because then we will know for sure which streaming service we need going forward to watch the Eurosport and / or TNT Sports content.

Not that it matters to British and Irish fans of figure skating, because WBD no longer have the rights to the ISU events here.

Oh, how I wish they did still have the rights! I know we get Chris on the World Feed, but I miss the British Eurosport commentators as a team!

Oh thanks for the heads-up, I didn't know that Discovery+ will become HBO Max! Was thinking of subscribing to HBO Max because a few of my favourite shows are HBO, and this might be another reason to do it. I hope they sort this out soon.

Sky currently has the exclusive rights to HBO content in the British Isles, Germany / Austria, and Italy. But that deal expires shortly, and the HBO content will then be added to Discovery+ (which is being rebranded as HBO Max) in these countries in March.

Fortunately for us figure skating fans, this is after the Olympics. But depending on the exact date, it could be before, during, or after Senior Worlds.

But, where we watch WBD content will probably all change again later in the year whenever the future ownership of WBD is finalised.

If Netflix is successful in buying Warner Brothers and HBO, then the TV channels will be spun off into a separate company (Discovery Global), and Discovery+ will return. But whether they will do it in a simple way (move the WB and HBO content to Netflix, and rebrand HBO Max back to Discovery+) or in a disruptive way (re-launch Discovery+ as a separate service from scratch, and make us start a new account) remains to be seen.

Meanwhile if Paramount is successful in buying the whole of WBD, they will probably merge Discovery+, HBO Max, and Paramount+ into one service. But how on Earth do they go about merging three services with three sets of accounts in a manner that does not cause major disruption?!

And if both deals get blocked by the competition authorities (which I personally expect to be the outcome), who knows what happens!

It's a mess!

I had a dilemma last night, because the first episode of this year's series of "Gladiators" was on, but there was a 20 minute overlap with the start of the Free Dance. So, I decided to leave "Gladiators" until tonight, and watch the skating from the start.

Just watched "Gladiators", and I completely forgot that it is filmed in the same arena that was hosting Europeans! I keep thinking it is still filmed at the NEC in Birmingham. (That's where the 90's version was filmed).

So, by my calculations, that means I have spent about 38 hours watching sporting competitions from the Sheffield Arena this week! 😲

And I loved it all!!!
