Mens lp

I believe Jerermy and Joubert are the only two skaters to skate two clean programs in one competition.

They won't hold down Jeremy at nationals for sure. He just won the GPF. He is THE big name now.
\QUOTE]

Once I saw that Jeremy qualified for the GPF over Evan, I knew that he was going to make the National team to go to LA

ITA
Between Johnny lip and Low PCs, Evans under/pre rotations. It would very bad thing if they held either one up. Forget the rivalry.

The so called rivalry was to draw attention and boost ratings that is first, second, I did not understand Johnny's PCS, and thought that they were a bit low, knowing him I believe that he will go home and work on it for nationals.

? Aren't there like three spots for the men? Evan can definitely outskate Carriere, Bradley and Rippon, especially if they don't call Evan on his underrotations at Nationals.

It is in my opinon that no one will get held up at Nationals, unless somebody crashes and burns, and gives the judges a reason too. It will be Johnny and Jeremy, and then a fight for third place. Evan's programs are terrible and so are the costumes, He has not skated clean in a while, and has really regressed in his skating. Bradley and Rippon have done well on the international stage, I would not be suprised if one of them made the team over Evan.

He did two 3axels, one with combo 2toe, 3lp,3fp, 3lz, 3s, 3t. one triple/triple combo ( not sure what), 2axel/2t. All were clean except 3lz were leaning forward?

There are three spots, thanks to Johnny and Stephen's performances at Worlds. I'd say Johnny, Jeremy and Evan are the most likely to finish in the top three.

Yeah, I don't know. I just don't think you can underestimate Oda, Kozuka and Joubert. Especially Joubert - if you think he is down for good, he climbs all the way up again.
ITA, and I'd include Verner if he figures out the mental issues (please let that happen).

Wasn't it just a month ago that Chan was unbeatable, and then wasn't it just yesterday that Kozuka was going leave everyone to fight it out for silver this season? Never try to predict long-term results based on one or two GP showings, even if they are very good.

Joubert, BTW, hasn't had great results in the GP overall: he's only made it into the GPF four times and has just two medals to show for it - a bronze and of course a gold from 2006-7. I hope his back injury isn't too serious, I read somewhere it happened three days ago and I'd imagine the fall yesterday aggravated it. I'm guessing he'll skip French Nats (surely the flight back from Korea will do his back no good) and leave Ponsero and Preaubert to fight it out, plus that guy who just won JGPF - Amodio?

What a shame so many skaters who made it into the GPF couldn't actually skate the full event.

When did Joubert skate a clean LP? He hasn't finished first on the LP this season, including French Masters.

Préaubert!!!! He has done it twice this season, and he included the Quad in his long! Still miffed that he didn't qualify...

It really was a bad men's competition - with two highlights: Kozuka's SP and Abbott's LP (I still think that Abbott's SP was lacking some magic and got correctly scored). Well, it earned Silver and Bronze for two men with not so good performances. Johnny really scores a lot with his Axels, Verner actually landed 6 Triples too plus the scratchy Quad - but since Johnny only didn't do the low-scoring jumps like Loop and Toeloop he scored more than 8 points more than Verner.

I have to be honest, till the half of Kozuka's program I was ready to crown him. I knew that the Quad was underrotated, but the rest looked just fine - till that not Kozuka like Lutz-combo. But Kozuka is young, and unlike Chan he can do all the Triples and has proven it many times. He will be back and strong!

^I'm still willing to cut Patrick a bit of slack. He is only 17. Taka IIRC is 19, so he's had another 2 years to get the axel consistant. I'm sure Patrick will be as consistant as Taka in a year or 2.

I cried out after I watch Jeremy's skate tonight...Being champion or not, he skate himself to the World! I heard Tom told him "You are my pride", and I will say that " Jeremy , you are my Pride TOO!!"

Never Watched he did a so perfect program before. This season, he improved a lot and being more and more self-confident. Hope he can go to Worlds and do another miracle for me and all his fans!!

He even reminds me of John Curry!! Or I am the only one has this thought?;)

He has all the qualities to be a Champion! Go Jeremy, GO!!!

I believe s/he just meant Evan, as a local LA resident, will be staying at home (that is, LA) and watiing for others to arrive :)

Congratulations to all the medalists, especially Jeremy Abbott! '

Actually, I meant that Evan might just be staying home from Worlds- not competing.

OMG Jeremy, Congratulations!!!!. I woke up just in time for YuNa and Mao's skate and just came over to this thread. I have not gone through it yet, but Brian withdrew. A lot of withdrawals this GPF. Congtrats to all the medalist.

ITA I know what you mean. This competition only intensifies my feeling of uncertainty as far as the men's field is concerned. (Every competition so far has done something to increase that feeling.) I still think ANYONE of these guys can win Worlds, anyone. So. I hope they, um, all do their best. Seeing as how they can all do it. *shrug* The rest is just blind guessing and luck (looking at overscoring too) and not even talking about injuries and...

But right now I'm glad for all the people who did survive the GPF (how many WDs in total this year?) and managed to medal to boot.

Little disappointed with Johnny losing allll those points in the SP, he could've done better, had he not left all his work to do in the FS. But I can never stay too upset with him. (lol) He's been around for too long and knows what he has to do. I hope he'll stay healthy now for Nats and then have a good battle with Jeremy since the way it looks like right now, that'll be the main battle in the men? I'm sure Jeremy will at least medal this year. (But, you know, I'm not even saying anything, since anything can still happen.)

I think that Brian should give Kurt Browning a call and whatever happened that gave him the idea NOT to use Kurt Browning again, he should just forget about. Some of his best work was done with Kurt Browning, and I think that he needs to work with him again.

Actually, I meant that Evan might just be staying home from Worlds- not competing.

Oh I imagine he'll be in the stands for the ice dance(and Tanith, if he's not, dump him!), and the camera will probably go to him and Scott Hamilton will rant about how unfair it is that all new technical calling did him in...

It is going to be nice to hear the U.S. National anthem at the awards cermony.

Jeremy is the FIRST US-MAN ever to WIN the GPF!!! And he was my prediction! *doing my victory dance* Beautiful skate, and the man can think on his feet, in contrast to his compatriot. I know Johnny got the Bronze etc., and please fellow Johnny-Fans don't kill me for it - but he was mediocre. His program is simple, that's not really a problem, but at least do simple with power and emotions. He rightly ended up with the lowest PCS of all competitors. And his tech score is lower than Amodio's yesterday...

Chan's PCS took a nosedive - perhaps the judges got fed up with a so-called favourite without Quad or Triple Axel.

Congrats to Abbott! Now get that Quad in the program and the top of the World in L.A. sounds suddenly very probable.

Edit: I was surprised that Johnny crossed the 70 on TES with this performance - and now I know why: no edge call, not even a warning on the Flip!

They gave Abbott +0,8 on the first Lutz? He deserved everything today, but that sounds a tiny bit generous - if that much ice flies into the air there shouldn't be positive GOE.

It's fascinating, I started the season with correctly predicting Kozuka to win Skate America and finished it with correctly predicting Abbott to win the GPF. I am so self-satisfied right now.

Now that you are satisfied, I hope you stop dissing Chan, thanks.

Evan's programs are terrible and so are the costumes

I think that Evan´s programmes are really great, they just need to be skated well. Besides, in Skate America he had the highest PCS in both programmes and in Skate Canada only Chan beats him in that score in sp, the fs PCS Evan won although he was only 4th. That means that the judges appreciate his programmes...

About costumes I agree totally, LOL.
