I'm planning to go to the Olympics from the U.S. and wondering whether I might be able to access my Peacock account on my iPad while I am in Italy. Does anyone have any experience or advice that might help me?

The reason I am asking is that I see a bunch of Training tiles up on Peacock. My friends and I only have tickets to 3 figure skating events so it would be nice if we could watch some of the other events in our room. (I'm hoping I might be able to connect my iPad to a TV with an HDMI cable?)

Do you have HBO? My plan (purchased and used in Europe) has amazing Olympic coverage and for the past two Olympics it was included with the basic plan.

Here is the message I am getting when I try Peacock:

For US customers:
Your device must physically be located in the US to stream.
For other international audiences:
Peacock is not yet available in your territory.

If none of this works, I am sure you will be able to watch in fan zones around the city.

Do you get Eurosport via HBO or a different way? I haven't been able to figure it out for a while now.
Currently I have Discovery+. HBO hasn't been available in Germany until a week ago. These two services will probably merge at some point...so I'll probably need HBO too in the future.

Gotcha. I think both are available in Italy so I suppose the best thing to advise North Americans coming to Europe is to purchase monthly subscription for one of those once they arrive in Italy. I would much rather do that than deal with VPN.

Eurosport has really good coverage - all sports, replays available, language selection used to be available as well.

ETA: There is a Sports add-on with HBO that is for Eurosport, but Olympics have been available without it in the past.

Probably Eurosport for everything up to the men's free. Pairs and women's free - live at the venue :love2:

I'll probably be watching the Eurosport / TNT Sports coverage too, because everything from the Olympics will be on Discovery+. Under the sub-licensing deal, the BBC is only allowed to show so many hours of coverage in total, so it could be hit and miss as to how much figure skating they show. And I'm not sure whether the World Feed coverage on the Olympics Figure Skating YouTube channel will be geo-blocked or not.

Reading Pearly's comment. How do they know you aren't using a VPN? Proton hides your identity pretty well.

It's statements like " team rhythm dance joined in progress" that frighten me. So is NBC broadcast going to continue to just do a mashup of highlights, skipping around sports? I am hoping we on Peacock just have to put up with J and T and commercials. If Mintz is right, they will be amazed at how many people mute J And T during the actual skates, but I am guessing the actual process of muting won't be a one button affair. But if it is, J and T and Crackers are in trouble.

Hope you have a great time @PaulE! Hope you will share some of your impressions with us.

Currently strategizing using VPN to watch Ice Dance in other territories.

A good (paid) VPN should work well!

I sometimes find they slow the connection and have never used one on an iPad (I think someone said they were considering watching on an iPad from their hotel room). If I had to decide between paying for VPN and a quality feed like Eurosport offers, I’d go for Eurosport.

There are now new tiles up on Peacock, titled (Venue Feed) The ice dance rhythm dance, pairs and women's short programs kick off the team event at the Forum di Milano. World feed. No commentary.

Adding to this - The "Venue Feed" team event tiles are listed as Day 1, Day 2, and Day 3. Plus, each segment of the individual events ALSO has a "Venue Feed" that says "World feed. No commentary" in the description. I will be in heaven. Here's hoping all my favorite skaters make the Free Skate/Free Dance, so that I get to see commentary-free versions of both programs. Gosh, it feels like forever since we've been able to have no commentary for figure skating!

Side Note: It's only been three seasons, but it feels like an eternity. ;) Apologies to Mark and Chris and Ted, who seem like lovely people, but (for me) nothing beats having the music, the skater, and the crowd on full display, not to mention the K&C stuff.
