Malinin's free skate, yes, with the vocals because it is a shot at direct connection with the audience and sincerity versus interpretive dance

to completely obscure:

Dzepka's Spartacus free skate
Vorob'eva/Tzymbalov's Bird's Wings free dance. Mastery is not there, seems like a program that was put together far too early in the career, but the program itself is something I had never seen with actually amazing lyrics and choreo that carries it and makes the young skaters look like they could become someone special. Particularly amazing after a season of horrid RDs. I dunno how this partnership develops, and maybe this program is their only shot at something more than mediocrity, but by content I like it more than the entire top ten dance taken together. Because it means something, and it is new -- again, at least to me. I don’t know where the lyrics comes from, and maybe someone has skated to it already in 1990s or something, but it's impressive. Anyway, the only program that actually moved me this season, not just pretty skating.

Andrew Torgashev's short program - the footwork was masterful.
Yuma Kagiyama's short program - same reason. He really sold it.
Oona and Gage Brown's Godfather freedance.

Well @noskates and I are the same person For a little bit.

1. Yuma Kagiyama, "I Wish" SP.
Perfect blend of music and choreo and presentation. He has grown so much!

2. Andrew Torgashev, "Apashe" LP.
He clearly loves this program, and when Andrew loves a program, the ice is his canvas.

3. Oona Brown and Gage Brown, "Godfather" FD.
ln character the entire skate and gives Oona a chance to shine (and murder) as much as Gage.

4. Kévin Aymoz, "Le Lac" SP.
A beautiful demonstration of Kevin's movement and style.

And for the lesser known:

5. Samuel Mindra: "Spirits/It's Time to Play" SP

What a shame that such a unique voice in skating has little chance to express himself internationally. I am never ever bored watching Sam.

C/B Free Dance. I've come around to loving this as the season has gone on.
Browns F/D. Godfather was an inspired choice.
I would say Alysa's short program, but it's really a repeat of last season's.
Yuma's Turandot, although I'm not sure we'll ever see it skated to potential.

And that's about it. I think there aren't many really great programs for an Olympic year.

Couldn't agree more - he's a real talent - and I think his coaches (sisters Nani Tanaka and Mari Malama) have some really interesting students who'll be worth watching out for.

The ones the spring to mind are the Godfather free dance by the Browns and the Tarzan free dance by Perrier Gianesini and Blanc Klaperman.

Also hate the music but the step up in quality the Hungarian pair team demonstrate with their Earth song short is impressive.
Nagaoka and Moriguchi's Tree of Life free skate.
And Junhwan Cha returning to the tango free skate.

Honorable mention for Mia Risa Gomez's free skate. Very atmospheric. And Josefin Taljegard skating to Celine Dion.

The Browns' Godfather FD (el henry described it perfectly!)
Zingas/Kolesnik RD (so different, so snappy & energetic)
Isabeau's LP...this surprised me as I haven't been a fan of her style. But in this program her skating is smooth & not so ballet-ish.

that's why I said it was a shame. We will not see him on the senior international stage due to one element, aside from all the exciting elements he performs so well.

I don't even know how to describe it, except, pure Anthony. Enchanting.

Anthony is in a class by himself. Unapologetically "Anthony" and I find it very, very entertaining. His programs are always unique.
