No. It still haunts me. But one of his coaches who is a Russian and old has commented on how his team had a bad effect on him....

Personally, I wouldn't like the gold to be awarded on the basis of one quad.

IMO whoever wins the gold should show real artistry as well as technical prowess. Petrosian doesn't do that, at least not from my perspective. She doesn't seem to relate to her music or care about connecting with the audience.

For the same reason, even if Ilia had landed all his quads, it would have bothered me a bit if he had won. That's not exactly the same because his jumps are light years above the rest in spite of his weak presentation. However, it is the same principle: the winner should be a complete package of technique and artistry.

Again, JMO. May the best skater win!

I for one wouldn't regard a great skate from Ami Nikei as a surprise. Or Mone Chiba, for that matter.

Clean Ami would be 150+ so it would be medal for sure.She may be as happy as she was after short

It sounds like Dmitri Kozlovskii was doing real time commentary. He would have given 155, he says, and then the real score comes up. 158.13

The concept of world records in skating is ridiculous since the scoring guidelines change every year, and even event to event, panels do not apply then consistently.

The best we can hope is that the judges judge fairly in each competition.

Kozlovski should have checked the protocols of the two events. S&H 2022 beat M&K 2026 based on PCS, but M&K dominated on tech. S&H had the quad twist, but they only did 3t2t2t and had a very ur'd 3S. M&K only had a triple twist but they had a good 3S and a 3t2A2A combination, so they crushed S&H 2022 in TES.

This is not the place to do it, but for one, Kozlovskii's well within his right to provide commentary on someone else's skating and scores. More importantly, the 3S was two-footed, so yeah they were overscored.

Less "objectively" I suppose, that skate simply didn't deserve that 75 PCS score.

Does anyone care about the country medal count? Norway is the size of New Mexico. It has 5.7 million people. Yes, it is in a winter sports wonderland...but they are very careing and positive in the way they introduce their children to sports. Wish they had more figure skaters.
My real question is.....given all the medals handed out for various sports, why isnt there a gold for short program, gold for free, and gold for combined? As well as the team event?

I was just reading about this! They said because skiing is cheaper than skating people there go for skiing. Another thing I read is skiing has more relays and group activities. Skating is too solo! But then I was like is skating really more solo than skiing?!
